Is the US dropping domes on towns and I just haven't been paying attention?

Honestly, are you sure you'd know if the US did trap a billionaire? John Franklyn Mars is worth over $45 billion and lives in Jackson, Wyoming, do you know what he looks like?

Burns is pretty old. America does not treat our elderly that well. Money helps with some of that, but probably not all.

How would you know if they weren't? Think it is coincidence there are so few inhabited places in Nevada? It is just dome after dome after dome out there.

Jury Duty

Why does jury duty have to start so early? I'm totally cool with being on a jury. But 8AM? On a Monday? And it is 45 minutes away, which means I will probably have to get up before 6.

Climate change denialist, campaigner against safety covers for electrical outlet, and also campaigned against a law requiring people who worked with children to have a criminal record check.

Given what we know of the BBC's history, that last one is... that is suspicious.

The EPA's weakness is the result of billionaires mucking with it. The only reason it got power in the movie was due to president Arnold Schwarzenegger getting another billionaire in there, and genuinely wanting the EPA to have some teeth.

My headcanon is that Russ Cargil got so mad with power, he ignored or outright forgot or dismissed the fact he was messing with another billionaire, which angered them all. So when Maggie whacked him at the end of the movie, she got away with it due to Cargil having overstepped his boundaries over another billionaire.

On the plus side, Maggie has two rich assholes she's nearly killed. That girl is going to follow the footsteps of Mona Simpson at this rate.

As far as I'm concerned, it's among the weakest of Le Guin's works. Her sci-fi is so much more interesting.

I don't even know who this guy is but from what I know about British childrens' entertainers... yeah, background checks are good and I'd strongly side-eye anyone who was against them.

Why do you need to pick a fight with someone on this? For one thing, a LOT of people who do shift work don't get up at five in the morning, a thing you readily acknowledge.

There are also people who work remotely for their 'real jobs', and not only do they not have to get up at the ass-crack of dawn to commute, they may well be on a totally different clock depending on just how remote the work is.

For that matter, people who are retired, disabled, or un- or under-employed fully deserve basic respect.
