Yeah, I feel that, OP. It hasn't ruined everything, but it does make for some distracting, intrusive thoughts sometimes. I try to keep that stuff separate and well compartmentalized just so I can enjoy a book without making a list of all the stuff that's a bit yikes about it, but it's a challenge.

It's true, but I can't say that contemporary fiction set in wealthy countries is any different.

I'd give Band of Brothers a bit of a pass, though, since the other side is doing the same back to them with equal wealth, armaments and power.

I agree, but also it was following on from LOST (which was in its final season then) which absolutely used a similar set-up and lots of mysteries at the start, so it wasn't necessarily a bad or weird idea.

What's amazing is if he hadn't started talking more and had kept up how he was doing years ago most people would still fawn about him being a genius. But he ruined that for himself just by talking a bunch and tryna fuckin buy twitter.

On the plus side, I can now tell that 85% of Twitter users with blue checkmarks are accounts I should block. (There are still a few legit organizations, but most of the time I know it's going to be somebody licking EM's asshole before checking to see what else they've posted.)

I could understand that. I've have a fair bit of knowledge of the 'lore', although probably not as extensive as the more hardcore fans - but I have to admit that half the enjoyment for me was being able to recognize and pick up on stuff from the games, in addition to youtube cameos like Matpat, Cory and the FNAF fan song in the end credits.

So I suppose if you go into seeing the movie without any of that then its definitely going to be a different experience.
