That’s encouraging about Mario because I want to see the movie. I dialled back my expectations when I found he was voicing him but the movie looks good.

Yeah, he did alright, and I get why they didn't go with Mario's old voice actor. My issue is less with him and more about how animation studios will prioritize celebrity voices over professional voice actors. Something he kind of become the face of recently.

Elon musk is a 50 year old man with more money than god and he spends his time spamming 9gag memes on twitter because he got dumped by a girl that looks like she would shoplift plastic bongs from Spencer’s. He has the same origin story as Knuckles the Echidna and refuses to pay taxes and when he gets called out for it, he'll pull some stunt like "if the government can give me a detailed plan of what they'll use the money for by
4:20, I'll sell 69 shares of tesla stock" like he's the smosh version of the Joker. And he'll probably get away with taking over mars because that weird dude you know who hasn't upgraded his personality since 2011 and talks about the death star having contractors on it when it blew up like it was a real event will see this shit and go "epic win"

I think I found out about who Elon Musk was due to him being brought up on Buzzfeed or Twitter somewhere in the early 2010s?? And I recall knowing pretty immediately that he's an insecure rich dude who uses his money to buy clout because he's not particularly smart or gifted.
It's been weird seeing that he has fans who believe his hype and see nothing beyond his money. Even weirder to see less online-heavy people in my life buy into the lie that he's some gifted genius.

Like, you guys, it's all right there. He's done nothing outside of throw money at things and spout dumb shit that makes the things he bought worse. He's turned Twitter into a place for fascists to promote their jargon.

I agree, but also it was following on from LOST (which was in its final season then) which absolutely used a similar set-up and lots of mysteries at the start, so it wasn't necessarily a bad or weird idea.

Yeah, I feel that, OP. It hasn't ruined everything, but it does make for some distracting, intrusive thoughts sometimes. I try to keep that stuff separate and well compartmentalized just so I can enjoy a book without making a list of all the stuff that's a bit yikes about it, but it's a challenge.
