new comment discourse!

okay which is worse: no comments on your secret or a harsh first comment on your secret (caveat i'm considering trolling as out of hand to begin with)

i think i'd prefer a harsh comment to no comments, but i could see why a person would prefer nothing.

lol, good idea, let's keep the frenzy going XD

but seriously, i agree; i'd rather have the harsh comments. no comments means no one cares enough to engage =/

That's going to be very dependent on the person and type of secret, isn't it?

Like, if I don't get any comments I would definitely be bummed out, but depending on how personal I got in a secret, a harsh comment might actually be hurtful. In that case I would probably prefer no comment.

On the other hand, if it's just a random or silly secret I'd prefer the harsh comment just to have some activity in the comments at all.

If your secret is one of those East Asian dramas, then I'd prefer no comments at all.

Oooh tough call. I have days where I'm really sensitive to meanness or criticism, but I think in general I'd prefer harsh comment over no comments at all.

I guess being ignored is technically better, but if the harsh comment is stupid or amusing enough, I'd welcome it too.

Honestly, I'd rather have no comments. It's been rare that I've gotten positive comments, and the harsh ones feel like they're being deliberately over the top to impress other commenter. At least having no comments allows for the general idea to be out there and give people something to think about with a bit less bias from showy (harsh) comments.
