Inspired by 4 - Casting changes you did not like!

I know Alice Krige is a better known and probably just better in general actress and also who they originally wanted. But Saskia Reeves is still my favorite Jessica, and I'm sad Children of Dune didn't bring her back.

For entirely shallow reasons, I prefer the original Daario on Game of Thrones. Ed Skrein just looked hot.

Julianne Moore in Hannibal. Just no. Also Mario Bello in Mummy 3. I don't know much about her as an actress. But all the chemistry Weitz had with Frazer was just gone.

Don Cheadle as Rhodie. I normally love him and totally get the many reasons they needed to recast the role, he just didn’t have the same energy. When he disagreed with Tony, it didn’t feel like two equals, it felt like a subordinate sputtering pointlessly.

+1

I like most of the AOS Star Trek movies cast, but Zachary Quinto feels like a weak point to me. He isn’t bad as Spock, but he just isn’t as compelling as I think the character should be

Daphne Maxwell Reid played a pretty different Aunt Viv than Janet Hubert did in Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Reid’s Viv just seemed much more indistinct.

I didn’t really care for Michael Gambon as Dumbledore in Harry Potter, he didn’t have anywhere near the refinedness that Richard Harris did. It’s not like Harris was going to be easy to replace, but I can think of several actors off the top of my head that I think would have been better.

The second Laurie in That 70s Show. The original Laurie had amazing bitch energy. The second one was nowhere near as good.

I know they HAD to recast Dufresne in Black Sails because the original actor got brain cancer, but I *hated* the new Dufresne. He just didn't give the right Nerdy Math Brain Energy the original did. And he was way too young.

If you could live anywhere, where would you live?

Two options: current real world answer, and a use your imagination answer.

Boston. I always loved living there. Plus, as an immigration attorney, it is a great place to be with lots of immigrants and friendly courts who are actually reasonable.

Philadelphia or NYC. I just want good public transportation in my life. Unrealistic, some Nordic country with their amazing QOL stats.

Probably somewhere in the Maritimes.

Same city I live in now, but a much much nicer and bigger place in a different neighborhood.

And also a pied-à-terre in Paris or London.

Imagination? Rivendell.

Scotland. I visited Edinburgh last time I was in Europe and I loved it so much. Unfortunately I only spent 3 days in the city before I flew home and didn’t get to the countryside. My ancestors came over from there and I’d love to move back.

Osaka. One of the cute little neighborhoods next to the very small queer district.

Somewhere in the woods of northern New England.

Honestly, though, I really like the town where I currently live. Nice mix of woods, farmland, and suburb. Not too small, not too big. People are friendly and community-minded. The local government is functional; selectboard and school board meetings are boring and reasonable. There's a lovely park in the downtown area, right beside the river, and there are pleasant community events year-round. I've been here for a decade, and I wouldn't mind staying for another.

Nearish to a village in the Alaskan or Canadian bush. Far away from the masses but still with a community to help and be helped.

Scotland or Northern Ireland. I loved both when I visited. They would have to leave the UK first, tho.

Realistic: Colorado. I've been to most of the US states and it's the only one I've been to where I've been like "wow, I would love to live here" rather than just "oh, this is nice" but I'm fine going back home.

Still real world, but less realistic: somewhere in Europe, but I'm not sure which country specifically.

Imagination: a fantasy world where everyone is queer and there are talking animals. :D (This isn't based on any media that exists or anything, or at least not that I know of, it just sounds fun to me!)

Concert!anon here

(Anonymous) 2024-03-08 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
It’s four days till I see P!nk in concert and I’m starting prepping. I have earbuds and am picking my comfiest sneakers and outfit. It’s going to be 26c and I hate the heat, and the venue isn’t undercover so I’m prepping water bottles.

Is there anything I should be doing else wise in preparation??

I think I have a ghost!

(Anonymous) 2024-03-08 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
This morning I was woken up by what sounded like someone farting (lol) next to my head (there was no one else home at the time, and I can't imagine them doing that anyway). As I was debating whether to try to go back to sleep for a bit or get up, I saw a small light orange/peach-colored light blink on in midair at the foot of my bed, then go off, even though there's nothing in my room that could've caused it. As I was trying to figure out what in the world it could've been, I saw a transparent/shadowy shape appear on top of my legs in bed, then dissipate. I never felt any sort of weight or pressure or anything, I just saw it.

To be fair, the title of this post is a joke and I don't actually believe in ghosts, but these three things in a row were so weird and I'm not sure what was going on. I was definitely not asleep and dreaming, but maybe I was hallucinating because I haven't gotten much sleep lately.

I don't know, it was weird.
