There was one recently that sent me over the edge. Someone asked (paraphrase) “have you ever considered using non-binary characters in your works?”

I can’t tell if they were trolling, exceptionally dense, or had maybe seen only one thing he’s done and thought they were being oh so profound by quizzing him about doing more inclusion.

I am unaware of most of his work, does he write many non binary characters?

Several characters in Good Omens are nonbinary, including Crowley and Aziraphale. But some people think they don't count because they present as male (usually) and use "he" and don't spend a few seconds every episode talking about how genderless they are.

Desire from Sandman is one major example as well.

He's gone on record about most if not all his angels and demons being non-binary, but a LOT of people only accept non-binary if it looks a certain way.

I mean, "going on record as saying" doesnt mean much if its not in the book. Does he actually address it in any way in the source?

Don't think so. Frankly I don't consider his angels genderless, they are sexless through all his works.
Desire though is nb character and always was just with a different lingo

The narration specifically notes in Good Omens that Angels, and by extension Demons, are genderless unless they make a specific effort to not be.

Gaiman does have some amazingly dense fans. I once saw a person ask him to write their plot idea into a novel and in exchange they'd split the profit with him 60/40!
