YAY! A Simpsons secret. + The Springfield Files/The X-Files.

Do you have recs for any particular episodes post-season 17? That's when I stopped watching, shortly after the movie came out. Or rather, that's how it felt at the time. Google says the first season post-movie was season 19. My memory must be faulty.

Do you wanna discuss the show in general? I have a tattoo from it and I just adore it. ...Haven't watched even an older episode in quite a bit though. I am in Bortposting and Rancho Relaxo and Obscure Simpsons Characters on FB tho.

I rewatched both* shows during the first lockdown in 2020 and weirdly ended up at the same point in both shows (the point in X Files history when this Simpsons episode would've aired) at tbh...this isn't a far fetched observation from what I remember.

*(Yes I was watching them at the same time! The Simpsons was my WFH lunchtime viewing and The X Files was for the evenings.)

It definitely depends on the genres. But mainstream pop has become more samey and repetitive in the recent years, especially with at least one third + of song being lazy/bad covers or just heavily sampling older songs with not actual creativity involved. I think there have been actual studies about this as well.

i guess i agree and disagree. you can find many artists that absolutely hold up to artists of the past, but i'm not sure you can find the same number of popular artists who can and the top 40 seems to be what people are talking about when i hear this. that's not necessarily a bad thing imo, since it means that smaller artists are getting played more frequently because people can find them more easily, but i do think the top 40 is simply not balanced the same. questions of quality v. taste aside, it does seem like music is more forgettable.

Huh, I actually really like what they've done with Ozai because for me the guy was one of the worst villains I've ever seen in the cartoon. He was the Final Boss for Aang to thwart but had no character outside of that, while the LA version is a fucking horrible father and I am enjoying hating the shit out of him.

I also don't think he's softened at all? We seen him emotionally manipulate and abuse his kids every time he's on screen, he pits them against each other and nothing either of them do is good enough. He's not nice like at all. Azula seems similar to me if simply also a victim of an abusive father, idk what way they'll take her but I wouldn't mind her getting a shot at redemption if they go for that(no clue) because I found it weird in the cartoon how a 14 year old was treated as evil for existing and kind of ignored that she also would have been a victim of abuse?

TLDR: I disagree with you OP but also you can feel how you do, I'm not trying to change your mind, just my opinion.
