I'm with the original commenter, here. Writing about something in fiction is different from seeing it IRL. The concept does freak some people out, for religious or non-religious reasons. Yeah, I can see how homophobia is bad, but 100% tolerance isn't going to happen anytime in the next century.

No one is expecting 100% tolerance. That's like saying you can't rant on how fucked up murder or violence is just because it's unrealistic that it will ever cease to exist.

yet they have no problems capitalizing on their popularity in fandom by writing about something THEY HATE.

here. let me reword that for you.

"I'm a BNF, known for my Characters of Color fics and fanart.

My secret?

I hate black people."
