1. I don't think so, because I have to agree. Anime/games/whatever beautify smoking so it doesn't cause the character to get wrinkles or yellow teeth or cancer or bad breath. It's like the way I love characters that are assholes or megalomaniacs - but don't think for a second I'd put up with them in real life. Personally, I can't stand smokers or smoking and it disgusts me having to go to restaurants or wherever and have to deal with it.

...and that sounded totally disrespecting to smokers when I did not mean it that way. MOVING ON.

2. Word, word, WORD. I had never heard of it before my friend dragged me around and made me play it with her (we literally switched turns on the different chapters) and I loved it to death. ♥ I wish a fandom for it actually existed.

4. ...I'm going to be very careful with this, because it's obviously a sensitive subject, but I'm also not going to hide my opinion on it. I agree in the way that I do like reading and/or writing a few select gay fandom pairings, but in real life I would not like to hear and/or watch any sort of gay sexual relations. Though that kind of goes both ways, because I don't like watching or hearing about heterosexual relations because I find sex, at its base, to be pretty disgusting.

But I'm also not going to say "WHAT A DISGUSTING COMMENT / YOU SUCK" either, because it's your opinion and opinions are like assholes - everyone has them and pretty much everyone else doesn't want to hear them.

Disagreeing with an opinion doesn't mean you're not allowing the person to have their opinion. For example, I disagree with you that sex is gross on a personal level, but agree with you on a base-scientific level it's just exchanging of pheremones and fluids, so yeah. Not that pretty, but nothing to be ashamed of in my opinion.

This isn't a poorly-based opinion, because you are not saying you hate gay people, you are saying you don't want to watch them fuck, which is not very abnormal of you or illogical of you at all. The OP's secret was poorly worded if this was what she/he meant, because to say "I hate gay people" Is a dumb opinion, end of story . An opinion is an opinion, it's not sacred and doesn't have to be respected if it's hateful, just as mine don't either.

I know it's not, but I'm not going to start a huge arguement because someone expressed a negative opinion about a group of people.

Though I think the OP's words were poorly represented, and unless they truly meant they're homophobic or that they wanted to cause wank, that it could have been written more clearly. I guess I'm trying to be all optimistic and numb towards it because I have family members who blantantly hate homosexuals and I've been dumbed against the opinion in the first place because I couldn't handle getting pissed off at them all the time.

But thank you for not chewing my head off. I was afraid to express any sort of opinion on the subject because it's quite easy to get misinterpreted, especially in the hetero/homo sort of conversations.

I never learned anything by thinking I was right all of the time. My opinions are not ineffable things that just were bestowed immaculately upon me and are inherent to my character. I formed them through interaction, learning, and yes *GASP* being proved wrong! So I get a bit upset when people are so afraid to share their opinion and always have to state a disclaimer prior to it, saying that to each his own and all of that! Yes, live and let live is the best philosophy, and I'm not trying to control anyone's thoughts. The person can hate gays, it's over the internet, and in the end it doesn't effect me that much at all. But I will not deny that it's a retarded opinion to have.

Yours, on the other hand, has base. You just wouldn't want to witness actual homosexual sex, or much sex in general, which is logical. You're not writing off a bunch of people, it's just not your cup of tea. I wouldn't chew your head off for having a rational opinion, which is what you just displayed.

But disagreeing with the OP isn't chewing their head off. For one thing, they are cloaked in the secure veil of anonymity, so I cannot do anything personal to them or say anything personal about their character. However, they are saying something personal about gays and their characters by writing them off. You see the difference between a retarded opinion and a smart one like the on you had?

:) ♥ Maybe you're just sweet. I on the other hand like informing people when they are being an ass, just like I love being informed of it. If i use hateful language, I like when people tell me and say "Hey, you're offending an entire group of people with your words", because then I feel like a shit head and learn from the experience. People who go "It's okay if you hate this group of people! I mean I don't, but it's okay if you do!" won't get me to stop being a shithead.

You seem like a very nice person, though 8D so props to you for not being a jerk over the internet. It's a rare thing.

Haha, I'm sorry. Sometimes it's just too intimidating a subject to be straight about your opinion and I'm specially one that's usually too afraid to get involved in those "big conversations", usually being gay rights or abortion or whether Bush should be shot in the face or not. I always add the "PLZ BE NICE" lest some fanatic here or there decide I'm easy and fresh meat, or that my opinion is obviously wrong and thus void.

I'd like to agree but I always remain completely neutral on opinions, whether bigoted or not.

re: 1... I don't watch anime or games, and the characters that smoke, it's not shown to be cool. I watch Father Ted and Black Books, and both the main characters in that smoke a LOT and it's not portrayed as being attractive. HOWEVER I think that the characters are really cool despite their smoking. Rather than I think they look cool because they smoke... hmn. And those characters *do* get coughs, and stink, and stuff. I like the realism. :)

4. But do you hate knowing that straight couples exist? Do you freak out seeing them holding hands? There's a difference between not wanting to see people having sex, and not wanting them to have a relationship, and hating *them*. I mean it's assumed that lots of people in the world are having sex. You don't have to watch them.

...okay, well I'm just watching the stuff that beautifies it. LOL. There's always that "lonesome anti-hero" character smoking, leaning against the wall, wearing black leather and other stereotypical badass-type things. I just think smoking makes some characters look more interesting, though I think I'd still like them without such a small act. I really like my fantasy being so... fantasy. X)

She (I'll assume it's a she) said "Hate". That means 'hate'. She didn't say "I write about flaming homosexual men and in reality, I hate that kind of gay person"
