Your reading trends

Do you have tropes you look for no matter the fandom, or are your tropes or kinks more fandom based?

I definitely have overall trends I like, but within each fandom there has been a trope or kink or two that I only wanted for that specific fandom or character.

For original fiction, psychological horror.

For fanfic, sugar daddy AUs encapsulate a lot of kinks that I love (praise kink, devotion, daddy kink, etc). Hurt/Comfort is my most bookmarked trope. I also like mob boss AUs.

I can't think of any specific tropes I only like for certain fandoms. I can only think of tropes that I'll read for any fandom (even ones I don't know, lol).

Some of each. There are some things I look for in any fandom. But there are also things I only like with specific fandoms or characters.

Like, I'm usually super into praise kink and hate humiliation sorts of things. But there is one pairing (Hux/Kylo from Star Wars) where I like a mix of both. Because it feels super in character for them. I still need some praise, but some of the other side works well very often.

For some reason I was really into Derek Hale being pregnant. I have never cared about mpreg before or since. Teen Wolf was a weird time for me.

Teen Wolf was a weird time for us all, Nonny.

I can’t think of any tropes or kinks that are limited to just one fandom. I tend to get into a fandom because it has the things I like, not the other way around.

That's usually the way for me too. I'm drawn towards fandoms, characters, and ships where the things I love the most are common.

I tend to get into a fandom because it has things I like - I'm pretty sure that's just how fandom works. But within fandoms as the characterization evolves and different writers take different takes, I'll be exposed to new ideas and often I will latch onto one interpretation or trope and really fall in love with it for that specific character. It's not something I start looking for elsewhere, but I will hunt the whole fandom for it with that specific character/s.

Also some kinks or tropes work for me with certain set ups or characterizations but not others. So like I'll look for D/s and praise kink in every fandom I go to, but I only really looked for let's say mpreg in X fandom.

More fandom based.
I do have some kinks that are mostly universal but they still can get stuck on unsuitable for them world building / characters

It really depends on the writers

There have been some amazing writers in some fandoms I've been in that made me give certain tropes or kinks a try that I never would have looked for or clicked on. A solid writer can make anything worth reading. But generally I have overarching tropes I like, and then characterizations and fandom specific tropes. The idea of just looking for the same exact thing in every different fandom is pretty funny to me.
