I am shocked. Apparently, he fell from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. He was 31 and leaves behind a 7-year-old son. Rest in peace.

Not a fan of 1D but I read about that. So sad. 31 is too young.

I wouldn’t say I’m a One Direction fan, but my little sister adored them and I like a few of their songs. She’s so heartbroken right now. I feel really bad for her, the fans, and his loved ones.

I was definitely surprised hearing about this from my tow truck driver even though I was well outside of One Direction's demographics.

Apparently he's been harassing his ex for years and she sent him a cease and desist letter this week. 🤷‍♀️

He threw himself off the balcony, which is a bit different from falling. The first responders were already en route because he went psycho in the hotel lobby and had to be carried to his room. It’s even odds of his family will hold the hotel liable for him drugging himself and swan diving off the balcony as coping mechanism for getting outted for stalking, harassing, and sexually abusing women.

Dude, no. I don't care about your feelings on him or his band. Mental health is not something to be cruel about. No one is or goes "psycho." That word shouldn't be used ever.

Mental health isn’t an excuse for any of the horrors he perpetrated. And fine, he didn’t go psycho, he had a psychotic break fueled by drugs and alcohol and he attacked a dozen people and destroyed a ton of property and had to be restrained. Immediately after that he jumped off the hotel balcony.

Keep in mind this is the day after he was splashed all across the news for the shit he was doing to his ex and her family AND the revelation that he pressured underage fans into sending him nudes when they were still touring.

Mental health is exactly why her did whay he did. You think menatally healthy people do all that? Not saying he should be excused, but let us not pretend mental health had nothing to do with it.

Nobody says mental health justifies terrible behavior. Nobody was even remotely implying that.

This. I know nothing about him, and if he did what anon said, that's awful and never justified. I was only objecting to the language used.

Nice to see you're at least honest that you think stalking and harrassing people (or even just accusations of it) warrants a death penalty, I guess.

Heard this earlier today, so sad. I don't know the whole story or what he may have done, as someone not familiar with 1D other than liking some songs. I am sad for his family and for the situations leading up to this.

Anyone who reads this: do you think he truly fell? Or did he jump? Curious about the percentages.

Tbh I think it might be somewhere in the middle if that makes sense. Like he was thinking about jumping and then accidentally fell. That's an unfortunate amount of accidental deaths, to my knowledge.

You think he was too high and drunk and he wobbled and fell?

I read that witnesses said he jumped, but if it was intended suicide or he thought he would survive or he was just high out of his mind and didn't know what he was doing we probably will never know.

I'm gonna wait for a thorough report by the proper authorities instead of reading an entire thread that's likely going to trigger people.

Yeah this whole thread should be deleted. He was a predator and the world is safer without him in it.

Of course I don't know what actually happened, but I am inclined to believe he jumped.
As a way to escape the consequences of his many alleged abuses/toxicity.
Also, I just get this feeling it's an extremely abusive move to try to wreck his ex. =(

It was shocking for me to wake up to this news, especially with what's been going on surrounding his personal life.
