Re: The want is there, but no chemistry

Percy Jackson. I regret that I didn't read it when I was much younger, because maybe I would have loved it as much as everyone else.

US is the shitty one. Too bad it rules over UK now, so Bond messing with its weapons corruption is too unrealistic.

I like Percy Jackson, but I feel that way about the Percabeth ship. I can't think of any reason other than nostalgia for why it's so popular with people who otherwise share my taste and distaste in ships. They love it while hating newer ships because of all the things that Percabeth also has, and pretend it has things it doesn't actually have just because those things are elements of other ships they like.

I know I watched this movie a long time ago but I remember nothing about it except for that one scene (at the end?) where the guy's skin is all strung up and man, that messed me up for a while.

Eh, unless they’ve asked not to have that sort of thing pointed out to them, it’s probably fine if they just posted Chapter 5. A DM would be less awkward than a comment pointing out the typo to the entire world, but whatever. If the fic’s old, then it’s considered rude by most people to point out random typos unless the author has indicated that they’re into that sort of thing. It’s the difference between telling someone that they’re wearing mismatched shoes when they’re heading out to the party and telling them when they’re on their way home.

I think of it more like telling someone their fly is down or they have a sock static stuck to their back while they are on the way to the party.

But the people who get upset about it take it very seriosly and get way upset ime and are usually sensitive to a lot of types of comments so I just avoid commenting alltogether. Solves the problem!

If you're interested in a group of young folks discussing what's wrong (and sometimes what's right) about the Bond movies (and later, other action franchises), I really recommend the podcast "Kill James Bond". They rate each episode using a fun scale they call SCUM - Smarm, Cultural Insensitivity, Unprovoked Violence, and Misogyny. It's like golf, the better it is, the lower the score.

I also really recommend the live episodes where they did the Charlie's Angels movies, those are pretty funny too.

He's not pretty but he's got a great body, he can be very charming, and he's a good dancer. That's basically the argument for him being hot.

convicted with filmed evidence actually! and he's still free.
