I use author notes for a quick heads-up about warnings in this chapter but no other chapter, a source of inspiration, or anything the tags literally do not cover so...avoid at your own risk, I might have trigger-warned you.

Something about OP tells me they wouldn't have much regard for trigger warnings either.

This so much!

I don't often have author's notes, but when I do, it's usually to warn readers that a sensitive tag I used will happen in the next chapter or that I added a tag that wasn't there when I first posted.

I understand not wanting to read every AN like it's a holy text, but I think it's a good idea to skim them. Sometimes, there is important info in there.

That is another reason I skip authors notes. Tags are my warnings, I cannot think of a single thing a tag couldn't be covered for me and excessive warnings in the notes annoy me and kind of act as spoilers for me.

HOWEVER, I am happy to scroll on by and ignore them without comment because I know some sensitive souls need the extra warnings. I am just not a person that has triggers, tags are more content information for me.

Same! And honestly, I'm completely fine with anyone scrolling by, but I'm still gonna keep making little injokes that don't fit anywhere else and put trigger warnings and heads up for this specific chapter because it feels right to me personally. I love putting a little 'here we have character A being an idiot, character B being a retriever and character C being in possession of the only braincell, good luck' in the notes. And also, if I'm writing a hardcore non-con scene in a fic that is indeed tagged for non-con but also has a lot of other things going on, you bet your ass I'll warn in that specific chapter. It just feels right for me and everyone who doesn't want that for spoilery reasons or any other reason, they can just ignore the tiny little note at the beginning (I've ignored author's notes before on re-reads, it's not that hard).
