AYRT. Genuinely interested. In the interests of full disclosure, I voted for Kamala, I've read a fair bit of project 2025 and it's very clear both Trump and Vance support it in all of it's horrible handmaid's tale dystopia, and Trump, being a felon, is a bizarre pick as a President anyway as being a criminal ought to exclude him from running in the first place but--

All right, I'm genuinely interested in the reasoning behind why people would support him. I almost definitely won't wind up agreeing, but I'm honestly interested in the reasoning behind it.

Well, I won't spend too much time on 2025, except to point out that trump has openly disavowed it, and Bill Maher has said that it seems obvious he's telling the truth on that much at least.

And I won't get into why people support him. Too broad a topic and I don't want to be fighting off people telling me to kill myself for the next 12 hours.

But you asked about Why support a convicted Felon:

Because we watched the process of lawfare that led to him being given that status as "Felon". We watched 4 years of Piss and Russians, we watched 2 impeachments, one of which was done after he was out of office, we watched the irregularities in the trial, from time to location. We watched the... Hell, one step away from being a kangaroo court and the trumped up charges, and the delays designed by a politically motivated prosecutor and judge to attempt to impact his ability to campaign. And we, frankly, disagree with both the process as it stands, and the outcome.

Did people not support Nelson Mandela? He was a "criminal" too. NO, calm down hateanon, I am not saying "Trump is Mandela" I am pointing out that people vote for criminals if they believe they are innocent of any wrongdoing.

Why NOT vote for a prosecutor instead? I can't be bothered to dig through the internet for the Tulsi clip, but I'm sure you know the one. Just imagine I posted it here.

If that Illuminates anything, I'm happy to help.

If instead all you got from that was "Deranged trump cultist doesn't believe the obvious truth that is clear as day to my educated eyes" (sorry if I seem defensive, but if you're not going to try and make me defend myself, someone else is and I'm fucking TIRED of blind cheery "Maybe I can help them see my viewpoint" optimism.) then I would remind you that two groups of people watched the same Nicholas Sandman footage, and came away with the fixed and unshakable view that 1. The kid did nothing wrong or 2. The kid was shouting Build that wall and harassing a native American elder. It's maybe just time to accept that we live in two different realities, and both of us are sure that our own perceptions are facts while the others is delusion.

AYRT. Thanks for the civil and informative explanation! I appreciate it. I've got some thinking (and some research about the Trump's trial) to do but thank you!

Holy shit! ok. Cool no problem.

Was legitimately expecting to be in for another fight. Thank you!

I actually think part of it is that he, for some reason, managed to delude people into thinking he's some sort of self-made underdog American dream type who's one of the guys. The way he talk like he has the vocabulary a d diction of a grade schooler probably helps to convey that image.

Well, just for me. No. I know he's a new york billionaire. I know he doesn't give the first shit about any american that doesn't have the name trump. But his self interest, his ego, as long as he has enough competent people around him is potentially more beneficial to those under educated peons you dislike so much. And he's marginally less slimy than MOST career politicians, and EVERY career politician on the left. I watched the left block him from running as a democrat because it was hillarys "Turn" due to what appears to be obvious snakeshit deals with Obama back in the day. I watched them fuck bernie for same. I watched them Fuck Tulsi for... you know what I don't even fucking know. If they'd ran with tulsi back in 2020, we'd be starting her 2nd term right now, and - her record on guns not withstanding - I'd be cheering her on right along side you lot.

Ah, yes, so helpful to the little people, stripping them of medical insurance, leaving the disabled to die, deporting anyone with a skin tone over peach, mass deregulation leading to the current e coli outbreak and listeria outbreaks... Nevermind every woman and girl out there or anyone with a uterus. But hey, you have a dick so far down your throat, you won't think of that until any woman you care about is dead because she had an unviable pregnancy and doctors couldn't do shit because a fetus is more important so BOTH end up dead.

I hope the leopards well and truly eat your face, and the face of every person you love, so completely thoroughly you come out this a broken man.

He's already having Stephen Miller prepare the denaturalization project for naturalized US citizens in 2025.

How is that beneficial?

Musk is a naturalized US citizen who lied on his application, just saying.

You and me both know Musk won't be touched because he's white.

I absolutely hate Trump and Vance and Project 2025 and all of the gloating cult.

But some people who were on the fence voted for him because a.) they can't cope with rising prices and this always happens with incumbent administrations when the economy is perceived to be bad and b.) they are actually affected by illegal immigration in their local area (hotels full of jobless people, etc.)

I live in an affluent community and though I wince when I grocery shop these days, and I haven't even seen an undocumented immigrant standing outside the hardware store like I used to in the early 2000s, I have gay and trans friends and family members and am staunchly pro-choice and was disgusted by January 6th, so to me it's a no-brainer to vote for Kamala, but it's true that broke people vote for "the other guy". This happened with Bush Sr. too. One term.

But I do think a lot of people are sexist and/or racist, too. But I think even a generic whitey like Beshear would have had a tough time getting elected this year.

They're gonna love when prices skyrocket further from tariffs, then. /s

You shouldn't cast the first stone about gloating, you were planning on it if Harris was elected. Admit it. You had a post already written with words like end your fucking patriarchy, and suck it white guys. Come on, we're all frenemies here; you can admit it.

And that is part of why you lost. Because we're sick of that incessant moralizing.

Isn't it weird how you always seem to be the victim in someone else's story?
