48hrs without your phone

(Anonymous) 2024-11-19 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
How difficult would it be for you?

Not very. Took me forever to get a smartphone and even then, the most I use it is if I'm driving and don't want to listen to the radio.

Annoying but doable

(Anonymous) 2024-11-19 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I would get annoyed at not being able to text people or quickly look something up, but other than that a weekend with no phone is doable. I try to limit my screen time anyway, I have found it really messes with my depression of I am on my phone too much.

But I wouldn't be able to do any longer due to work.

Physical phone? Not hard at all, I have 2-3 instances of Nox running on my computer at all times playing various games so I'd just emulate the other functions if I needed it.

I don't remember the last time I actually phone-called or phone-texted someone.

I'd ruin my game streak, but I'd live.

Not difficult for me, I've done no phone challenges before, but I have friends that are straight up addicted to their phones and flat out could not do it. Which I find really sad but they have no problem with.

I used to do it all the time when I was backpacking. These days I still carry and use my InReach but I’ve switched over to doing all the messaging and navigating on my phone. I don’t think I could go back tbh.

I'd have to get my sister to do my duolingo, but otherwise fine. I had to deal with almost a week of minimal phone (and internet) due to a really bad ice storm a few years back.

I use my phone to listen to music on my break at work so I’d be annoyed on that end, but outside of occasionally texting people it wouldn’t be that bad from a communication sense as I talk to most of my friends and family through discord.

So it would be irritating but it wouldn’t impact my life in a meaningful way.

Absolutely fine. twitching fingers but otherwise okay, since I use it for stimming. I'll just be on my switch instead.

If I don't have to go somewhere and use GPS and/or keep in contact with people with our schedule then extremely easy.

I don't use my smartphone that much. Basically only to message people, GPS, MP3 player (but I have another separate one), ebook reader (but I have two separate ones as well), anki flashcards (but I use it on my desktop too) and banking apps. Sometimes I forget it for days and don't bring it with me when I'm out for easy commissions.

Now, if you ask the same question but for my ereaders where I read my fanfictions and non physical books then IMPOSSIBLE. I'm addicted to them, lol.
I can stay without internet, TV, pc and smartphone for even a week with no problem, but not having my ereader is going to be tough, especially the one dedicated to my fics.

As long as I can use my separate work phone that's required for my job, it shouldn't be too hard. The only reason I don't turn it off entirely on weekends is just in case someone calls me.

Right now? Pretty annoying because if I have the car I need to know when to pick up my husband from work-- and he doesn't have a fixed end of day (mail carrier).

Recently did it. Combined with no power or internet, it was legit panic-inducing. Once I had power back, I really enjoyed just reading actual books with almost zero distraction.

Awkward. I don't have a land line here, but I do have a desktop computer and could use WhatsApp for messaging people if I had to.If I didn't have to go anywhere, I'd probably be okay, but I do rely on Google Maps because I have a terrible sense of direction and get lost easily.

Probably I should do a digital detox I guess.

Weekend, super easy. Barely an inconvenience.

Weekdays, oh I wish, but I need the phone gps and google maps for work. Regular GPS just isn't accurate enough for the large rural area where I live, where postcodes are superhuge and people don't seem to believe in putting their farm name or business names on the gates.

Pretty difficult. A lot of communication with people in my life is through texts. I don't have anyone's phone number memorized except my parents' landlines number. I hate traditional radio and my car's CD player is broken. Driving without my YouTube or Spotify is not fun. And at home, I use my phone for watching videos/listening to podcasts a lot. It would be doable but I'd be anxious.

Easy peasy. I don't use it much, mostly on my commute to check times for buses and stuff. I barely use it at all when I'm on vacation. Now, my laptop or my ereader? Easily doable too but much more unpleasant.

Over the weekend? Easy-peezy-lemon-squeezie

Over the week? Difficult-difficult-lemon-difficult

I listen to music/podcasts/audio books while working and I need the ability to switch between songs/romance novels/podcasts/non-fiction or I will have to quit.

My phone got stolen at 7:30 on a Friday, so I had to go like 15 hours without a phone. It sucked

Very easy, as long as I have something to read/watch/listen to. Otherwise I'd be forced to clean my flat or something! XD

If it's also two days without work, not all that hard. There are some DVDs I keep want to rewatch and sooooo many books I want to read.
