(Anonymous) 2025-01-05 02:01 am (UTC)(link)I get a lot of dirty looks for not liking them, especially as a Brit. How dare I.
Re: Not liking eggs is infuriating
(Anonymous) 2025-01-05 07:02 am (UTC)(link)fortunately, you can get around never having an egg, as obsessed as Japan is with eggs. pics on menus are accurate so you can order easily, and if it's somewhere like a soba or ramen place that orders by vending-machine tickets, use a phone translation app to check all the words and make sure there's no eggs. it's usually very, very difficult to get customization on orders (adding, subtracting, or substituting) unless you have a genuine allergy, so it's easier on you and on the restaurants to just order something without egg in the first place. so, no oyakodon, no omurice, careful ordering okonomiyaki, soba, udon, and ramen, and you should be okay at most set meal restaurants and yoshoku/family places. It's rare to get ramen without a hard-boiled egg (onsen tamago) but if you have someone with you who loves eggs, just pass it off to them.
About the only real issue is if you're going anywhere like a ryokan for a first-class kaiseki meal, it would be hella rude to not eat egg if they give you one. But, I don't remember ours ever serving eggs, not even tamago (the omelet roll, I love them). If you get served a raw egg on the side with wagyu beef, it's meant as a condiment to dip in, so you can leave it.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-05 03:49 am (UTC)(link)You need:
- purchased bread of your choice (I like English muffins or medium size rolls) x 6
- meat: cooked sausage patties, cooked bacon, sandwich ham/turkey/whatever
- sliced cheese of your choice
- olive oil or 4 tbsp melted butter (I prefer butter because life is short.)
- optional but worth it: Everything bagel seasoning
Preheat oven to 350 & line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Half your bread and lay out bottoms, three by three, close together/touching.
Put a portion of meat on each piece of bread. Then spread cheese slices all over. Top with bread tops (adding condiments if you like).
Brush the oil or melted butter generously on the outside of tops and sprinkle with seasoning.
Bake 10-12 minutes and then cool.
You now have 6 delicious sandwiches you can wrap individually in parchment paper and stick in a big plastic bag in the freezer. Take one out as desired, wrap in paper towel, and nuke 1 minute.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-05 04:12 am (UTC)(link)Cut potatoes into small cubes, lightly oil them, flavor with salt and pepper and roast at 425 degrees F for 20 minutes. Turn into a lightly oiled 13x9 pan.
While the potatoes are roasting, crumble sausage into a skillet and cook until completely browned. Mix in with the potatoes in the 13x9 pan. Sprinkle cheese on top and bake for 10 minutes. Cut into portions and put into freezer. I microwave for 1 minutes, stir, and evaluate how much more time it needs (30 secs to 1.5 minutes) depending on the microwave. I’ll also add more cheese when it comes out of the microwave.
That’s the basic recipe. I like to cut up peppers and stir fry them, then add to the casserole. Sometimes we finely chop an onion and cook it with the sausage.
For those that so like eggs, you can fry or scramble eggs and serve on top of the casserole.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-05 04:25 am (UTC)(link)Biscuits/croissants/english muffins plus ham/sausage/bacon and cheese.
Dinner leftovers can make a good breakfast.
Look up recipes for congee where you can customize it however you want, make large batches and reheat as needed.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-05 05:01 am (UTC)(link)I would say you could do garbanzo-flour pancakes either topped with veggies or with veggies and spices stirred into the batter, but sometimes people use garbanzo flour as an egg substitute and idk if it would be too similar.
Good luck finding something you like and tl;dr: eat whatever you want for breakfast, don't limit yourself to "breakfast food."
