Driving Pet Peeve

What is your Pet Peeve about other people's driving?

Mine is when someone pulls out right in front of me, then proceeds to do ten miles an hour slower than I was going. Why didn't you just wait until I was out the way, if you wanted to drive so slow?

General narcisism and people who don't pay attention on the road. People who don't use turn signals. People who realize too late their exit or turn but swerve across three lanes anyway. People who weave in and out of traffic and tailgate when they think the person in front of them isn't going fast enough.

Basically people who think they are the only person on the road who matters.

People who don’t indicate when there aren’t other cars around, but there are pedestrians.

The people trying to cross the street also need to know when you’re going to turn!

The driving doesn't bother me so much as the parking, tbh. Assholes taking up multiple spaces or fire lanes or reserved spots for people with disabilities

I hate that. There have been so many situations where I'm on a long, straight rural road and I see a car waiting to turn on and I wonder... why don't they just do it? There's no one ahead of me, and nobody behind me but they will wait until I get closer, THEN pull out in front of me. WTF? You could've done that 10 seconds ago, or waited another five seconds for me to pass. Are you TRYING to cause an accident?

Too many. But I'm also guilty of being a dick sometimes.

In addition to the pet peeve you listed:

-tailgaters in the slow/non-passing lane. Like, go around, please?
-people who don't know how to use a turn signal, ever
-people who cut in front of you 50 feet before you all stop at the traffic light. That is not just inconsiderate, it's dangerous.
-people who pass you, then slow down for no reason
-fuckers on the freeway WHO INSIST ON DRIVING ALONGSIDE YOU EVEN WHEN YOU ARE LITERALLY THE ONLY TWO CARS ON THE ROAD. Like, I don't understand why they don't just fucking pass and get out of my way? And whether or YOU slow down or speed up, they imitate you and you're right back being road "buddies." STOP THAT SHIT. IT'S DANGEROUS. (And reminds me of people who walk into a near empty auditorium and proceed to sit next to the one guy they don't know. Weirdos)
-people who fly through the parking lot. It's a parking lot, not a speeding lot.
-anyone on the phone while driving

As a pedestrian: When people keep driving towards pedestrian crosswalks, making me feel like I have to run. Or at two-way stops when one person stops but someone else has no intention of stopping, so I end up either running and praying, or end up ushering the other person to go, causing confusion for all involved.

As a driver, people who don’t use their turn signals. As a pedestrian, people who clearly see me walking when it’s my turn to walk and they still go. Sometimes they make eye contact and still turn right even when I’m already on the crosswalk.

Lately, my pet peeves have been related to the route I use for work. They are:

1) People who drive 20 miles under the speed limit (no, I'm not exaggerating), and don't have the decency to pull over at the many turn-offs to let the long of cars behind them pass by.
2) People who drive 20 miles over the speed limit (again, not exaggerating) and pass in non-passing zones. I've seen some very narrow misses!

A-tractors. The bane of Swedish drivers' sanity. Specifically when the driver doesn't have the decency to pull over and let the massive line of regular cars behind them pass. Just last thursday I was stuck a couple of cars deep in a line behind a Hummer2-to-tractor conversion on a road with kilometers long solid lines. The line was 20-30 cars long and snotnose driver had not a care in the world.

I get it; it's nice to have something like that instead of a moped and you get some driving and road experience from it, but please.

More parking than driving, but people who park in stupid places so they can wait for someone/fuck around on their phone. Like when you're in a parking lot and there's space for two cars, one going each way, in front of a business and one car is just sitting there blocking one side while the driver plays on their phone thus necessitating everyone behind them to have to go around them. Or once I was in this plaza parking lot and ended up behind a car at a stop sign and the driver was just playing on her phone not moving. She reached a hand out her window to wave me past but hey, better idea: you're in a fucking parking lot, go *park* somewhere out of the way rather than blocking people who are driving! And people waiting for someone who park in front of/blocking handicap spaces too, I don't care if whoever you're waiting for will be 'just a minute' you can park further back and move when you see them, and not impede people who need those spaces.

Driving-wise, people who are coming off a ramp onto the express way who don't speed up to merge into traffic. It happens way too often that I'll be driving in the right lane, there are cars coming off the entrance ramp, and one of the cars just keeps driving even with me, not speeding up to pass or slowing down to get behind me, and meanwhile their lane is rapidly ending and I end up having to speed up or slow down. I once saw an idiot almost get killed because there was a truck in the right lane and the guy coming onto the express way was just holding speed right alongside the truck as his lane was ending. The truck had to hit his brakes as the car finally cut just inches in front of him to avoid being squished, when just speeding up earlier would have solved this problem.

Oh, and pedestrian complaint: if there is a jogging path, that is the place where you are intended to jog. Not the road, especially when you're on a boulevard where 'the side of the road' is just grass so you're literally running in the road even if you're to one side. The jogging path is right there, it is in the name, the path on which you jog! This goes double for people jogging in the road late in the evening with no bright or reflective clothing.

That exact thing happened to me this morning lol
Also one of my biggest pet peeves.

I hate loud cars. Loathe it when we're at a red light/stop, and someone has to rev their engine super loud.

I also hate being in the left lane and the car in front of me is going slower than/level with the car(s) on the right lane.
And then I get real cheesed off when I switch lanes and the car in the left lane speeds up as if they don't want me to pass them up.

My pedestrian pet peeve when drivers wave you to crossbefore them. I rarely able to see you waving in your car! Drivers usually either in a shadow, it's too dark or sun is reflected from a windscreen.

People who speed in zones with a fixed speed limit and then tailgate because you keep to the speed limit. Like, try overtaking or something but I'm not risking the loss of my drivers license because you couldn't be arsed to get out of the house in time.

We mostly get small things… little birds, squirrels, chipmunks, etc. and a decent number of deer and geese.

The more exciting ones are periodic groundhog and the very occasional fox, eagle, or bear.

Every time I see one, it makes my day.

Foxes and deer are occasionally sighted in the city. Raccoons and opossums as well. Then the regular birds: sparrows, crows, bluejays, grackles, red shouldered hawks, cardinals. And if cours squirrels l, chipmunks, and mice and rats etc.

If you get out further and into the forests there are bears and deer and all manner of animals. No badgers though.

Someone had uploaded The Looney Tunes Show on the internet archieve and I'm having a fun time rewatching this show for the first time in years.

Also the new series of Call the Midwife which... I don't hate it, but I do feel very mixed about the recent series. Still looking forward to the last episode tomorrow.

As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and while I'm definitely not the world's greatest expert at secret design, I'll try my best. Please note that long comment secrets can be difficult to make with a good end result. Most of the time, I'll give it a shot but might not be able to make secrets where the text is so lengthy that I can't fit it into the limited space.

I saw Green Day last night and had an absolute blast! I'm still buzzing and barely slept a wink, my feet are blistered and sore but I had an amazing time.

The atmosphere was very different from when I saw P!nk. Even during her more upbeat songs it was pretty calm. The whole stadium was almost a mosh pit because Billie encouraged everyone to stand from their seats.

And we sang Bohemian Rhapsody before the concert started!

Billie went on a tangent and asked us if we wanted Elon and Felon to shut the fuck up and the stadium went wild. Just about everyone sang along to American Idiot.

I have a couple of videos on YouTube if anyone's interested but the stadium was almost at capacity and the floor crowd was HUGE.
