Maybe zoloft isn't the one you need? Or it's at the wrong dose? Or you haven't been on it long enough? Or your life circumstances are different now and you don't need fandom or that particular fandom? It's a bummer to lose interest in something you used to love but that's not always a bad thing, and something else will eventually become your new creative space.

As someone who did the whole meds roulette thing before finally finding something that worked for me (which was Zoloft, ironically), it sounds like that just isn't the right med for you. Which is okay! There are so many options out there these days that you should be able to find one that gives you the positive benefits without any unpleasant side effects.

SSRIs did not work well for me, the side effects were very unpleasant. It's up to you whether to stay with Zoloft, but I strongly recommend talking it out with your doctor/psych and planning to taper off with their advice, the withdrawal can be very painful and trigger the symptoms you were taking the medication for. Plus, they may have insight into another medication that would better suit you if you are not feeling Zoloft. Good luck!

Fandoms is definitely a result of my depression. It is my easy happy dopamine source when all else is numb or awful. It is also what I use to ignore the world and/or untrusive thoughts. So I can see how treating depression might make the urge to participate go away, and I can see how that could be both a good and a sad thing.

I was on Zoloft briefly, then put on Paxil. Paxil worked better for me. You may have to try a few more to find something that works- perhaps even a combo of two antidepressants.

I went on citalopram and it wrecked my urge to write for about 6 months, but then it all came back. So it might be the wrong drug for you, or it might just take some time.

I feel this a little with supplements I take to relieve my anxiety. I still like doing things and having fun! I just don't need the fandom culture so much anymore.

I've always been sort of a meta-and-lurking type of fandom person, anyway (I was writing prolifically when I was younger, but haven't written much for 15 years), so it's not a big deal, but I don't need the validation from fandom anymore. My body actually? Produces serotonin now? How!?

i was someone who lost interest and even dropped the show about midway through s3, but the last few episodes completely changed my mind about the season and overall show. i loved s1 and really enjoyed the second half of s3!

Can't really pick out a news story to comment on. Just really fascinated at how chaotic everything is. MAGA people keep babbling about their silly chess metaphors as usual but it really looks no one knows what they are doing.

This reminds me of The Big Short when the two guys are wandering around the day trading floor and one of them asks "where are the adults?"

I think all the sober competent people are staying away from this mess because they can't quell the storm.
