Yep. This is why "piracy is hurting the economy" is such a silly thing to say. People who pirate usually don't have the money to spend on entertainment (or it's not available in their countries) or they have money and they spend it on stuff they really like.
It's not really money lost because if they can people tend to pay for stuff they like and value (a good game, book, music, movie).
You're not doing it wrong, OP. A pirate who is wealthy usually do it the exact same way as you. Happy and safe sailing, mate!

I don't understand why not having the money to spend on a particular thing somehow makes it okay to pirate that thing. I'm not rich and there have been plenty of times where I haven't had the money to spend on an entertainment thing that I wanted. I didn't steal it, I saved up my money until I DID have enough to buy it because I wanted to support the creators so that they could make more things.

I don't think anon is saying "its morally okay," they're saying "companies aren't losing out on potential sales because people with no money aren't potential buyers since they have no money to potentially give." Can't wring money from a person who has none

Studies have shown that people who pirate tend to actually spend more money on things. They try it, they like it, they buy it. They'll try something they never in a million years would have tried if they had to spend money first and end up loving it and buying All The Things.

The only thing that doesn't have the same trend is books.
