(Anonymous) 2025-07-25 12:12 am (UTC)(link)I haven't played this game in a while, but I remember it being, like, fine? Did it get bad when I wasn't looking, or did it always have whatever it is you dislike.
OP
(Anonymous) 2025-07-25 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)Also, the prices for the cosmetic items are off-the-wall insane. Like $50 for a fucking outfit. If it were even $20 I might have considered it to support the game (it is free to play) but I can't get past the crazypants prices.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-02 04:50 am (UTC)(link)Ahaha, I do remember that. One of the reasons I stopped playing. Not the main reason, but definitely one of them.
I kinda think the devs have given themselves an impossible mission here; a free-to-play MMO with no pay-to-win elements is... donations and cosmetics are all that's left at that point. They gotta pay the server bills, and that means they have to entice X amount of money out of the players.
A certain free-to-play browser game I used to play has a mode that locks out your inventory for a run, and that used to apply to most microtransaction items, but people consistently bought less of the ones that couldn't be taken into that mode, so now they're nearly always exceptions. I think the game was better when they weren't, but the devs gotta pay the bills, and that's how the financial incentives aligned.
People just don't often buy in-game items that are Only Fun and not Beneficial. I don't think there's any possible price on cosmetics that'll keep Palia afloat.
