I don't think this is racist. Preferring the sound of one is okay. Saying that that makes it a superior language would be weird and a bit racist. Denigrating a language based on the way it sounds (or for pretty much any reason) would be shitty. But I think just liking the sound of one is fine.

I don't think this is racist, it's not like you're harming anyone or upholding harmful stereotypes. I think you're being a little too harsh on yourself Secret OP. It's pretty cool you can discern the differences between the languages despite not knowing either languages.

I was just going to say I'm the opposite. I prefer to hear spoken Japanese over spoken Chinese (I don't know how controversial this is but I prefer Mandarin over Cantonese). I don't speak any of these languages, just basing my preferences off what my ears find more pleasant lol

Same. Also Korean. I started to prefer tonal languages like Chinese and Vietnamese. They sound softer and more varied. Japanese has a very standard intonations that get old. Korean has too many KRRR sounds. I don't hate any language but I don't go out of my way to watch anime subbed VS voiced anymore.

I don't see what's so racist about this, and you don't have to berate yourself as a "white bitch". You just prefer the way one language *sounds* over another, you're not making judgment about Japanese people as a race over it. Maybe it's better suited to stay a secret since you know how certain types of PC people are, but it's not that big of a deal IMO.

I don't think disliking the sound of language is especially racist. I hope at least, because on the contrary I hate the sound of Mandarin. Cantonese is okay, Mandarin - nope. But Chinese rap I actually like. I like Japanese and I find Korean whiny, but tolerable. From European languages I can't stand French, but I do love German. This is highly unpopular opinion.
This is all just preferences. I do dislike dub enough to deal with them though. But also there is a whole chance that I don't like dub because I don't really like the sound of my own language and I don't enjoy "standard" American English.

This is the first time I see someone say they prefer German over French

I know! But I like aggressivness of German, it's dramatic. Also I do speek German somewhat. And I really hate French Rs, they make my brain itch. (I have couple of French fandoms anyway, but it's not thanks to the language)

As the others said, not really racist. I can't watch any Thai dramas because I can't stand the sound of the language.
But in your case, it might also have something to do with dubbing styles - I feel a lot of Japanese dubs are much more shouty and generally louder than Chinese dubs. Not saying there is no shouting in donghua but I do feel it's generally a bit softer.

I'm going to have to disagree with everyone here and say that it is absolutely possible that disliking a language is influenced by racism or prejudice.
