What do you like to eat with rice?

Or on rice.

Quick and plain? Fried egg with a runny yolk, pepper and a splash of soy sauce, maybe a drizzle of sesame oil. Avocado if I have it.

Veggies and tofu. I roast it all together then dump it on some rice. If I'm feeling fancy I'll make a little sauce to pour over it all, but often I'm too lazy for that XD

Just about anything that normally goes with rice in terms of Chinese food, Indian food, etc. But also:

* fistful of grated cheese (I like cheddar or colby jack, whatever you like is fine) and finely chopped red onion
* chunks of avocado, lots of pepper and soy sauce or sriracha

Chinese food, Japanese food, Thai food, Indian food, Mexican food

Fatty fish, chiken, beef stewed with onions. Fried eggs and ketchup.

Idk what do all the cuisine answers mean. You all know that both China and India are huge with different food depending on region.

For me, it means that I like the wide range of foods from those countries, that go well with rice. Naming a country is a lot easier than rattling off the dozens and dozens of dishes that might apply.

it's the same as saying food. What do you like with rice? Food. Ok.
It's spicy, it's bland, different tastes and textures. And where do people get raw fish for Japanese food? I haven't been able to get sashimi personally.

No. Naming the cuisine of a whole country is very general, sure. But it's not so broad as to be utterly useless, like saying "food". Saying you like Indian food is fine, because people understand what you mean, even if you don't spend the next hour listing each dish you enjoy by region just so the person you're talking to knows you're not a filthy casual.

"And where do people get raw fish for Japanese food? I haven't been able to get sashimi personally."

While not as large as Chine or India, Japan also has many regions with many regional dishes. By your own logic, just saying "Japanese food" is the same as saying "food", right? Do you see how ludicrous your reasoning is yet?

But to answer your question (because I understood what you meant by "Japanese food" even if you didn't list specific regional dishes), some Japanese groceries sell fish that's meant for raw consumption. Some non-Japanese fishmongers do as well, both in brick and mortar locations or via shipping. Restaurants are also a likely possibility, since the thread didn't stipulate that the rice accompaniments needed to be prepared personally by the user, at home.

I like to make bowls that mix vegetables and protein, with a quick sauce of sushi vinegar and soy sauce (and garlic, if I have it). Current favorites are broccoli (raw), mushrooms (sliced and cooked), with either salmon or a couple of fried eggs.

It's always vegetables and meat for me, either chicken, fish or cow meat. Occasionally curry and spices. It's my everyday go-to comfort food.

This sounds awesome! If you have a minute, could I maybe steal the recipe from you? I want to go back to being veggie, so am hoarding good recipes for the winter.

Sure! I follow this recipe as the base: https://peasandcrayons.com/cheesy-broccoli-rice-casserole/#wprm-recipe-container-90948

and then change it as needed/desired based on what cheeses I have/veggies I want. Mostly I add in mushrooms and sometimes cauliflower and mostly use just cheddar cheese though I love it when I can get my hands on some gouda or gruyere.

This contains so many of my favourite things! Mushrooms always make everything better, too. I'm a bit of a wimp with cheese so I've never tried using anything other than cheddar for a sauce, but I'll try and be more adventurous. Can't wait to try it out. Thank you so much for taking the time! <3

Just about everything I eat on a regular basis (but I am Asian, after all).

A nice Thai red curry. I had the biggest craving for a red the other night so we took a gamble on the new takeaway place, and oh my goodness it was delicious. I do a lot of stir fries with all my staple veggies too (mushrooms, broccoli, baby corn, peppers, etc.) I keep trying to make myself like beansprouts. No luck so far.

Stir fried tofu and veggies with various sauces, various beans and their cooking liquid and aromatics. When I was a kid my mom (an old hippie) would make "brownies," brown rice topped with steamed or sautéed veggies, grated cheese, and tamari toasted sunflower seeds.

I still cook and eat brown rice more often than white. White rice is arborio for risotto, or plain when I've been sick to my stomach.
