SM is not to blame for the move obviously. Are you ok?

There is an anon who has been repeatedly complaining about the move and insist the anon who does those threads move it back.

Yeah, I think it needs to move back BUT SM should wait like....4-5 threads before posting. When they post first, it can get kind of huge at the top.

On occasions when I'm here soon after the FS post goes up and nobody else has commented in the general comments section, I try to post a few threads (the usual "How is everyone", etc. topics that appear) before posting the comment secrets thread so it's not the first one at the top. Or if I'm lucky, I happen to come here at just the right time and the threads are already up, which makes it easy.

Unfortunately, I don't always have the time to sit here and wait until activity in the general comments picks up on its own, and if I wait too long I find myself dealing with the same problem - the comment secrets thread is too far down, posted too late, etc. and fewer people see it and respond. It's a tough balancing act, and I try my best to make it work for myself AND the community. Moving the comment secrets thread further down and posting a link in the GC seemed like a decent compromise, but I'm not sure if it's working well. I'm certainly open to hearing peoples' suggestions if anyone has a better idea.

It is easier for me to comment if it is at the top and big, and it sparks more creativity too. I don't know why, but it does. So I know I'd prefer it up there, being fandom activity, before we get to the petty griping over tv dinners, dodgy cats, and the moans about work.

The move was by user request, from someone who was concerned that the comment secrets thread tended to drown out other threads in the GC. I understand that the move and slightly decreased visibility might be a contributing factor. I'd hoped that posting a reminder in the general comments with a link would help, though.

Hey! So I was that anon that originally suggested it move and I am kind of regretting even bringing it up. So sorry it has caused grief, I really didn't think it would cause drama but it seems I'm the only one that thought it was a little crowded in the GC so feel free to move it back to keep the peace! Not that big a deal. <3

I don't think it's caused any major problems, don't worry about it! You brought up a valid concern because sometimes the thread can get very long and other threads can easily get lost underneath it, even after the comments collapse. It's only been a couple weeks and traffic here was sort of quieting down anyway, so I don't think it'll hurt to give it more of a chance and see if things pick up.

Seriously, this is a you problem. And you’ve been an absolute dick about it. Blaming it on ADHD is especially bad since probably half of us have it. It isn’t an excuse for being an entitled fuckwad to the person who is quite frankly the only reason the community still exists. Boo fucking hoo that you don’t like change. And you know what really sucks is that I think it’s going to change just to accommodate you and honestly that sucks because you’ve been such an asshole about it.

Just. Un-fucking-believable entitlement and lack of appreciation. Anyone coming at SM for any reason whatsoever needs to be straight walloped upside their whiny worthless noggins

It's just one anon that thinks that secret thread crowds the comments, and that anon was never rude, they simply shared their opinion. Moreover Secret Maker is a nice eloquent person that understands that people are giving feedback because they appreciate the secrets they make. You should stop making Secret Maker out to be a pushover that bends backwards to anyone, that's insulting.

While I appreciate your staunch defense, I'd like to note that the original anon who made the suggestion was not at all rude, and I don't think they were entitled or mean about it. It was just a random idea that seemed good enough to me (and Case!) to try out, just to see if that improved things for the community. If it turns out that it doesn't really work out, we can go back to doing it the old way.

And generally speaking, while I do see the occasional unkind remark directed my way, most people are very appreciative and kind. Don't worry about me, I've got a pretty thick skin!

omg i cannot agree more. i don't understand why people give that much of a fuck where the thread is posted. like. if you want to post a comment to be made into a secret, scroll to find the thread and post your comment. if you don't want to see it, scroll past it. why is this such a difficult thing that people are fussing about it?

Random anon here to remind everyone change is hard. Even a small change can throw some people's balance off and they will be initially bothered that something's changed.

It took me a couple times to remember that the SM Secrets Submission threads were in a new location, but not that big of a bother. The reminder threads SM posted in the GC threads helped a lot.
I honestly am fine no matter what choices SM makes.
Just from work related stuff, changes can really upset some people and they are really grumpy when the changes are made. Sometimes things change back, other times the new method remains. Regardless, any change usually takes time to adjust to and people will complain.

Sure, but as an auDHD person (who can't afford treatment to boot), it's our responsibility to adjust to change instead of lashing out like that one nonny has.

A thread on FS being moved is not a big deal at the end of the day.
