Mentally hung up on random nonmemorable time/place

This is so weird but my mind has just somehow been stuck on an event (actually a total non-event) from Thursday night. I went to a little cafe to get a takeout meal after I left work. The cafe is at an intersection of a main road and a less-used road that is a residential street. After I got my food and was leaving, I took the side exit onto the residential road. The whole thing was totally unremarkable, but it's like my mind got hung up on when I drove out of the parking lot and turned onto the side road, and I'm mentally still there. It's so bizarre. It's like I see my headlights sweeping across the road as I turned and my mind just keeps bringing that up over and over. On the other side of the intersection is a store, then there's a little apartment building, and I just keep thinking about that for whatever reason. There weren't any people out, there weren't any other cars around, no animals, nothing remarkable at all but my mind is hung up on it and whhhhyyyyyy it's like the equivalent of an earworm!

That's weird. Do you have OCD? I have a touch of the OCD and I get hung up on things like that too, randomly.

Ships you love in fanon and hate in canon

Are there ships you only like in fanon but hate in their canon version, or hate how they became canon? Or ships that you used to ship and then canon ruined for you?

House/Cuddy is the big one for me. I shipped it, but then canon ruined it to the point I hate the ship now.

Booth/Brennan, although it was already starting to ruin for me before they became canon.

I used to crack-ship Sauron/Galadriel, Silmarillion versions of the character where he's Annatar, she hates him and knows something is up, he can't imagine anyone could hate him and so becomes obsessed. Rings of Power ruined the ship for me, and now I have the tags blocked on Tumblr and unfollow any Facebook groups that have posts with the ship any because it has become a massive NOTP.

Hawkeye and Houlihan. I started to ship them later in the show. I really loved how it finally happened. I hated how the rest of that episode (or maybe it was a two-parter?) played out; Houlihan's behavior seemed extremely weird. I did like how their relationship settled after that.

Lisbon/Jane from the mentalist. I enjoyed their bickering friendship and shipped it because of that because they for sure adored one another platonically, and I could get perhaps unrequited vibes from Lisbon sometimes but the way the show handled getting them together just wasn't convincing. Jane had spent almost the entire story mourning his wife and child to the point where he clearly wasn't over them, and I don't for one second think that he couldn't fall in love again. But I very much went with a post-canon in fic scenario for that because it felt like that made the most sense. The show... did not do this lol. I didn't hate it but I just didn't care for the romance set up, it felt very sudden.

I honestly fell out of love with Steve/Bucky because the movies wouldn't even let them be visible friends again after TWS, and I wasn't sat there expecting a canon kiss, I just wanted to see the friendship we'd been told about. But nada so I genuinely don't ship it anymore.

A controversial fandom these days but Harry/Ginny. In canon, there's... well. Good parts. Like Harry noticing her eyes gleam by the fireplace after Arthur's attack, long before they get together. But there's also the chest monster and unfortunately the chest monster is kind of the level they're written at in canon.

But in fic, there's a lot of authors who put the time and energy into developing Ginny and Harry as a slow build relationship and I do love a good 'hero and his best friend's sister' ship, so.

As a fanon ship, especially before The Rise of Skywalker, I enjoyed the fics for this ship.

In canon, the way they were canonized sucked and...IDK it just wasn't compelling to me. Kind of killed the ship for me, but NGL I still check out fics from time to time.

Not really? If I don't like a ship's dynamic in canon or one of the characters in canon, I don't ship that relationship in fandom.

Well, except Steggy, where I liked it as a might-have-been one-that-got-away=thing, but the way it was made canon made my skin crawl.

What are your favorite family, friends, or personal traditions for this time of year?

I love taking a Solstice and a New Years Day hike. It is a newish tradition I started about 6 years ago and am so happy I did and that I have kept up with it.

I love that idea, just getting out of the house and clearing my head. I'm usually too tired from running around cleaning and cooking, though. So my Grinch-like answer is I love that moment when people leave, my house is clean, my fridge is full of leftovers, and I can have a cup of tea in glorious, golden silence.

My in-laws have a day where all the family available gets together to decorate sugar cookies. We have totes full of toppings and hundreds of cookie cutters and it is so much fun to get together and drink and chat and decorate and eat cookies. It's just a good festive time. When we first moved closer to their family I was nervous about holidays because the whole family can be a lot but this has been hands down my favorite yearly tradition with them. I love it.
