I used to love tie-in novels for stuff like Star Trek (Pocketbooks), or Doctor Who (Virgin New Adventures), and pretty much the entire shelf of Dungeons and Dragons TSR/Forgotten Realms books. I don't know why people started getting all snobby about them. They were fun. I wish we had that all back.

I think Ricky Jay is really hot. It is at least 40% about how good he was at sleight of hand, but it's not like I find magicians attractive in general.

I wish I could find the same joy in Miriam Margolyes as everyone else seems to. Progressive! Cheeky! Full of life! Instead I can't help thinking about how much I would hate being near her in any setting.

I still love those things, at least for certain fandoms. The Babylon 5 ones were generally really great. Star Wars ones, both EU and new canon. A lot of Trek ones are really good.

The Supernatural and Buffy ones were pretty awful.

Doctor Who is mixed with some really great ones and some really awful ones.
