How was your weekend?

(Anonymous) 2026-01-18 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Good, bad, meh?

Meh and Good

(Anonymous) 2026-01-18 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been battling some weird intense anxiety spikes lately (and intrusive thoughts) and having a pretty rough time, mental health wise, but this weekend was actually pretty good! Started a little meh yesterday but I ended up getting a few errands run, and then today was just an overall good day. Which was a surprise because I woke up with a horrible feeling of dread and no idea why.

Wasn't too terrible. Tried the new taco truck and it was meh. They didn't give you consome with your birria tacos! What's the point if there is no dunking?! I got a lot of my stegosaurus done (still no major stabs). Now I have to make the plates. Should I make them realistic or colorful?

Still ongoing, and okay so far. Doing a lot of cooking today ahead of upcoming snow/ice storms (hoping for snow but I won't get my hopes up too high since forecasts have been wonky lately). So glad for the extra day tomorrow. Hope I make some progress on fanworks.

Busy. And I’m so tired. But it was good. I have the week from hell ahead of me and then next weekend I’m going to be so lazy.

Good. A LOTR weekend, one each day. Other than that, relaxing. And spa day tomorrow. Only struggle has been dealing with the broken finger. I never realized quite how important the pinky is.

This is the first time in years that I've worked somewhere that takes MLK Day off, so I'm mostly reveling in the joys of a three-day weekend! I've got pizza dough proofing in the kitchen and I worked out a game plan for trying for BTS tickets next week, which has (somewhat) mitigated my stress over that whole process (but also it physically pains me what an ordeal buying tickets for ANY concert, not just the big names, has become ><).

Good, I went to a techno show and had a lot of fun, I was a little self conscious at first because the crowd was mostly younger people and it wasn't my favorite genre of techno (I was expecting a totally different vibe from the poster, still a fun show) but I had a great time dancing. This year I want to go to more local/indie shows for sure, I actually enjoy a change of pace with music and scene now and again. I have MLK day off from work so I'll probably go for a small hike or catch up on household chores.

Good! We had family night where we played card/board games and it was so much fun. I mean, it got a little unpleasant at the end because of some over drinking, but overall it was a great couple of days!

It was good. Our tiny club was invited to play a friendly scrimmage with Växjö Roller Derby. Five of us went so the teams were made up of a mix of players from both cities. Ended 164 - 137 to the blackshirted team.

Good. Got some good sleep Friday night. Spent time at my sister's Saturday, we went out for ice cream even though it's been freezing cold here XD there is something really satisfying about eating ice cream when it's cold IDK

And then today I got to go watch Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring at the theaters for the 25th anniversary. While it's nice to watch the extended version, I personally prefer the original theatrical version. But just a tiny nitpick, overall enjoyed being able to see it again in theaters!!! One of my favorite movies and such a great movie meant for huge theater viewing!

Was supposed to go out with some coworkers but they've been flakey and I feel like they are the "I coast, you do all the work" types. And I'm perfectly fine not chasing people to hang out with me. If you invite me out, you take the initiative to make the plans (unless you outwardly ask me for my preferences).

Peaceful. Now that I've fixed the glitch on the PCB for my mechanical keyboard kit, I have added hotswap sockets to the entire top row of keys (ESC, F1-F12) and have started placement of more sockets.

Meh. I was wildly PMSing so my mood had two settings - angry and listless. Also someone in my household (and I have idea who and they are not going to take responsibility) managed to cut my new winter jacket. It's inside and not noticeable but I am so bummed about it. It is fucking new!
But I've watched a lot of fun shows and movies so it's not too bad.

How exciting

(Anonymous) 2026-01-18 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
My sister got me a "crochet of the month" subscription for Christmas and the first box came today and it as so fun! I've never had a box subscription thing before and I definitely understand why they are so popular now.

What exciting thing has happened for you recently, big or small?

What did it make? Maybe I can suggest that to people next Christmas as a gift for me. xD

I got my stegosaurus's limbs on! Now to work on the plates. Any suggestions for colors are welcome! Should I do realistic or fun colors? I ran out of the dark color so he has thin spots that I am hoping to cover with more of the light green or something.

Oooh that is so cool!

I had D&D today and it was a very good session. (my life has... not been the fun kind of exciting lately so that was pretty big)

Help Making A "Dense" Bean Salad

(Anonymous) 2026-01-19 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm trying to make some kind of bean salad that I can make on Sunday to eat for lunch all week and has a ton of fiber AND is cheap.

I'm basing it off this recipe. https://www.thekitchn.com/dense-bean-salad-23724215

I'm doing two cans of beans (black and kidney), canned corn, fire roasted canned tomatoes, one jalapeno, red onion, and cilantro. I don't really want to buy red cabbage since I won't use most of it and don't want to waste food (plus they are $4!). Is there anything I could replace it with? Or just omit? I plan on eating it on pita chips with southwest dressing.

A shredded coleslaw mix, maybe? I'm not sure you can leave it out just because the amount of cabbage is so big. It also provides a lot of nutritional value.

Can you buy frozen red cabbage? Or would you get more use out of bok choy? My nutritionist had cabbage in a bunch of recipes and when I said I wouldn’t eat them she said to try swapping for Bok choy because I get the same benefits and texture. I usually have a little left over after making the two recipes I use so I shred the rest and toss it into my tomato soup.

Are radishes an option? Those can be chopped as thin or thick as you need. Though I'm not sure a bunch would go for in your area.
