Weekend Plans!

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2026-02-21 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
What is everyone doing this weekend?

I am going to work on my crochet project (took a break while needlefelting). Also going to be working on my WoW Classic character, we are having a lot of fun on Burning Crusade. Also, have to start breaking in new shoes.

Tomorrow I am working in the morning. Our office does one saturday a month for people who can's schedule consults during the week. One attorney goes to answer legal questions. This is my first one, finally being trusted to be the one there. It is at the Fort Worth office this time, though, which is a good hour drive.

After that getting hair and nails done. Sunday just resting. Sunday watching either Buffy or Babylon 5 or Doctor Who. HOnestly can't decide.

You are doing good work. I hope it isn't too stressful.

Thanks. It is stressful, though not nearly as much as at my old job (even if I'm actually busier now). But I love it, I have been able to win a couple cases at least, I feel like I'm helping a little anyway.

I've gotten better about self care too, I'm keeping on top of making sure I don't burn out.

Debating whether I should commit suicide soon because my future will be a hopeless one and I don't want to live through it.

Sorry you feel that way.

What an unfeeling dismissal.

I am not a therapist. I no longer offer people to message me privately, because one anon went off on me and accused me of being a predator. So, I'm sorry. I hope you feel better.

That's crazy. I'm sorry someone accused you of being a predator. Honestly, that anon wasn't me. I don't message anybody on here privately.

Almost every person who attempted suicide off the Golden Gate bridge and lived expressed that they felt HUGE regret as soon as they jumped.

Might as well stick around and see what happens in this weird old world.

If you're willing to ditch life, just get a passport if you don't have one and go somewhere weird.

Re: Weekend Plans!

(Anonymous) 2026-02-21 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
I can't afford to live.
I don't have a passport.
I'm too afraid to jump off of the Golden Gate Bridge and don't live near there anyway.
Stop being fucking sarcastic.

Re: Weekend Plans!

(Anonymous) 2026-02-21 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't being sarcastic in the least.

The point is that a lot of people who seriously attempt to end their lives go "oh shit," when they make what seems like an irrevocable decision to do so. I would rather you not feel that second of regret you can't take back.

We are all going to die in the end. If you want to go out now, you'll miss the rest of your existence; I don't believe in an afterlife, personally. But I can't tell anyone what to do; that's up to you.

Odd how you mentioned the Golden Gate Bridge when I literally googled 'suicide Golden Gate Bridge documentary' hours before.

Quilting! I’m super excited to have everything else done that needs to be done and I can spend two whole days just cutting and piecing. I’m finishing up a jelly roll quilt and then I’m breaking out of my comfort zone and doing a bear’s paw quilt.

Oooh! That type of quilt looks gorgeous! What kind of machine do you use?

Re: Weekend Plans!

(Anonymous) 2026-02-21 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Isn’t it cool?! I was taken immediately the first time I ever saw one but it’s very intimidating because it’s basically four blocks with sashing and a stone mixed in. I have only worked with jelly rolls, charm squares, and half square triangles so far and this makes me nervous but excited.

I have an Elna with a 12” throat. I really should have gone with a Babylock Jazz II (11” throat, still plenty of room for machine quilting up to a queen size quilt). But I’ve been taking the time lately to learn more about what my machine can do and I’ve been using the decorative stitches on my bindings which is a wonderful touch.

Do you just use a regular sewing machine for this? I would like to do kantha and other quilts but don't know how to start.

Tomorrow there is a clothes-mending class in a nearby town's makerspace, and if I can get access to the laser cutter in the local makerspace I'll show that I understood what we went over in the introduction/certification-type class (the laser cutter is apparently VERY persnickety and went out of true so we basically just saw how CorelDraw interfaces with it).

I would like to try to get to the nearby town's farmers' market as well but parking is usually merry hell unless you get when it opens or slightly before.

And some of this is contingent on whether or not I wake up at a decent hour (the mending class is in the afternoon at least)...

That sounds like such a fun weekend! It is so cool you have such great community activities. :)

Re: Weekend Plans!

(Anonymous) 2026-02-21 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
Access to two makerspaces is especially handy as it means tools like a 3D printer, which I certainly have use for but not *quite* enough to own one even if I had a place to put it, are available. (I certainly have no problem buying a spool of filament if I find myself using up too much of theirs, or more likely wanting a color they don't have-- in which case they can have the rest!)

The in-town space also has a wood shop, which is pretty terrific. My family had some good tools but a) they're about 400 miles away and b) our garage is not set up to be a good workshop (in particular it would need some serious rewiring).
