Small joys

What are some small joys you have had lately?

I bought a body spray "Aurora" from Bath & Body Works a week or two ago. It's Disney Princess themed, which I'm not really into, but it smells sooooo good. It's a rose sandalwood scent, and I just love it. I keep spraying it just because I enjoy the scent so much. It was on sale for $6 and has given me a lot of joy for that price.

I love finding things like that! I had an orange soap from TJ Maxx years ago and I didn't use it and kept it to sniff, haha.

I'm really enjoying Sanremo! Ermal Meta is always a favourite of mine, I mean that voice~~! Arisa's song is so beautiful, it almost reminds me of a Gaelic ballad? And then we have SAL DA VINCI! SON OF MARIO! and omg if you want a smile just listen to his song! <333

(also Andrea Bocelli just came in doing tricks riding a horse! I loved this festival!)

Sal's Performance!:

I got my new computer, killed windows, installed linux, and aside from a small issue with not being able to get my rgb keyboard to rgb, it works great. Got all my programs installed, transferred over my bookmarks, moved some files. Just played my first steam game, and it all went exactly like on windows. Suck it, microslop!

(Anonymous) 2026-02-28 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Out of curiosity, does Steam need a specific version of Linux to work?

Re: Small joys

(Anonymous) 2026-02-28 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
There may be some distros where it doesn't work well but a lot of games have linux versions and Steam has it's own native linux converter which it automatically downloaded as soon as I installed a game, so all the newbie distros should work fine. I went with Mint Cinnamon since it's basically a windows clone designed for people who are used to windows. I also confirmed that all my current games and the ones I have my eye on for the next few years were fully compatible with linux.

Note: you can't play multi-player games on linux because the linux code gets caught in the anti-cheat codes.

a dear friend I've known and loved since 1995, who lives near me but is too busy with her kids, politics, and business to hang out much, went "wait, I love Dance With the Dead too! Yes we're buying tickets we'll go together!" Her husband and teenage son are coming along, we're all going to party on the dance floor like it's 1995 again. It's such a tiny show for a tiny band and tiny night of fun but I'm invested and can't wait for April to get here.

ty I hope so too! less for the concert because DWTD is amazing at all shows full stop but for reconnecting with my friend and her hubs. we used to do so many concerts together all the time, but it's been a hot 20 years since we collectively did so.

I'm sorry to say my brain was all "Dance With the Dead? Don't you mean Dead Can Dance?"
[facepalm]

I took a nap today and my dog snuggled against me the whole time. Best sleep I’ve had in a very long time!

Found a weird little ol' slide rule in a thrift store for 99c. I've always liked them since I played with my dad's as a kid (sadly, it didn't survive the years-- the metal cursor frame disintegrated and with no way to restore it I had to dispose of it).

Had a nice time at the spa today. And my kitty is currently sound asleep near me, being her absolutely adorable, perfect self. She is 90% of my small joys in life.

I wrote a short story for my writing group which they said was good enough (after a bit of polishing) to be entered in a regional competition. I can't say I'm confident, but after two years of non-creativity, it's good to feel the mojo coming back.

I got an egg slime I wasn't able to a few weeks ago!

It's a clear slime with little egg shaped toys!! It looks so cute, and I've really been into clear slimes lately. Upon the initial release I arrived too late to buy that slime. Last week the slime shop was doing a major restock sale so a lot of their best sellers were back in stock! I've been spending too much money on slime so I really held back and only got the one I really wanted, instead of getting like 4-5 slimes XD

I know this sounds really childish but it's given me a joy to indulge in a toy I wanted a lot as a kid but wasn't allowed to have. I'm also not going to buy any new slimes any time soon. I have a pretty big collection now.

There is at least one frog calling in my yard and I hope there are more and they lay eggs soon in the tiny pond I put in; I love frogsong.
