I got my new computer, killed windows, installed linux, and aside from a small issue with not being able to get my rgb keyboard to rgb, it works great. Got all my programs installed, transferred over my bookmarks, moved some files. Just played my first steam game, and it all went exactly like on windows. Suck it, microslop!

Out of curiosity, does Steam need a specific version of Linux to work?

There may be some distros where it doesn't work well but a lot of games have linux versions and Steam has it's own native linux converter which it automatically downloaded as soon as I installed a game, so all the newbie distros should work fine. I went with Mint Cinnamon since it's basically a windows clone designed for people who are used to windows. I also confirmed that all my current games and the ones I have my eye on for the next few years were fully compatible with linux.

Note: you can't play multi-player games on linux because the linux code gets caught in the anti-cheat codes.
