I saw a bunch of midgets dancing around singing "Ding-Dong, The Creep is dead" and wearing Buffy shirts. I thought it was Joss Whedon at first.
Nah, I'm joking. It was reddit. I just wish it was the munchkin dance. Any short folks up for a performance piece at the next Buffy con?

(Anonymous) 2026-04-04 12:55 am (UTC)(link)I’m glad it isn’t just me! I saw the post probably minutes after it went up and spent half an hour reading loads of stuff on him to figure out what OP was talking about. And then it finally dawned on me that they were just doing the whole ding dong the witch is dead thing but changed it to creep and everything after had nothing to do with the Munchkins specifically.

But it really looks like the only reason he didn’t assault any women in his last few years was because he wasn’t physically capable and also had little opportunity.

(Anonymous) 2026-04-04 10:59 am (UTC)(link)It sucks to lose someone even if they were a shitty person. I remember consoling a grieving friend when their shitty abusive dad died and she said the grief was almost like she was mourning the loss of the relationship they could have had or the person he could have been. But there was so much anger too. Its a complicated mess.

(Anonymous) 2026-04-04 02:09 am (UTC)(link)IDK, maybe it's also that shittalking someone who just died feels like unnecessarily feeding one's own bitterness, to me? (This doesn't apply to people who were personally harmed by the individual; you wanna spit on the fresh grave of the person who assaulted you, I'll get out of your way.)

(Anonymous) 2026-04-04 02:20 am (UTC)(link)It feels weird to celebrate this death when it's more lamentable. I can think of a dozen people whose deaths I would celebrate, Brendan wasn't even close to the top 50 of celebratable. Depressing, "alas," "oh well" maybe but not worth celebrating.

(Anonymous) 2026-04-04 10:36 am (UTC)(link)Agree. If nothing else it's good to respect the people who were close to the person who has passed and don't intrude on everything they have to sort out. Especially since when it comes to the internet, the majority of people are just rubberneckers that want to write some zingers, they were never victimized and don't have any skin in the game.
You're right about the bitterness. It stirs up negative emotions in your own body which is tough, and then it makes things more difficult for the surviving friends and family, which is tougher.
