As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and while I'm definitely not the world's greatest expert at secret design, I'll try my best. Please note that long comment secrets can be difficult to make with a good end result. Most of the time, I'll give it a shot but might not be able to make secrets where the text is so lengthy that I can't fit it into the limited space.

I'm trying something new with the comment secret thread and extending the deadline to comment until Monday's post goes up. I'll monitor this thread until then, and hope the extra day will be more helpful for everyone.

Look, I love Andor. And I'm enjoying Darth Maul. But to say they are more Star Wars than Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, or the Sequels is just silly. Have those people actually watched the OT? The OT isn't dark, isn't starring antiheroes, and always remains hopeful. Even ESB. I feel like the haters don't actually understand Star Wars.

I teach high school ELA and I can ALWAYS tell from a kid's creative writing if they grew up reading and writing fanfiction. It's not a bad thing, just obvious.

You mean they actually know how to read and write?

From what I hear, there aren't many kids making it to high school with those skills anymore.

Funnily enough, they do tend to be better writers, or at least more enthusiastic and confident writers, at least in my observation.

They got their pathological use of em dashes from the school of hard knocks, not AI. LOL

What things give it away?

I've watched a LOT of baking shows, and have seen a lot of trends - deconstructed desserts, spicy desserts, herbal desserts...but the "alcohol in my dessert" trend is the least appetizing to me, but I generally dislike the taste of alcohol.

I dislike it because unless the alcohol is baked in it really well, there will still be some left and I have a bad reaction to alcohol. Finding surprise alcohol in a dessert and knowing I'm going to get a migraine is annoying.

I still want to go to Harry Potter World at Universal someday.

I'm sure I have friends who would go (not transphobes, just not very online people). But I would have to somehow make sure they didn't post pics on FB because many of my FB friends are very vocal about not supporting HP and would not believe that I didn't know about JKR's issues.

So your actual problem here is having a FB account.

The only thing I dislike about the Dungeon Crawler Carl fandom getting huge is the people complaining about the fandom getting huge.

Classic Doctor Who turning into the Tom Baker comedy half hour was what killed the original run of the show, it staggered on for a decade but never recovered from that. Just as modern Who will never recover from turning into the Tits McGhee show. Some decisions are just so stupid that they kill a show.

You know the problem with modern Star Trek?

They adopted common TV wisdom, and that is the opposite of what Trek used to be.

You know the old saying of "show, don't tell"?

Well old Trek used to defy that and was always "tell, don't show" to the point of the Briefing Room and Captain's Log being nearly Main Characters.

Make with more of the exposition and splainy, Trek fans actually love that shit.

When I was a child (and American Girl wasn't even owned by Mattel yet back then), my parents decided me and my sister could both have an American Girl doll each. Those dolls were expensive even then, it still boggles my mind that some kids have like twenty.

I was a true doll girly. My sister was in it for the status symbol. She chose a modern day doll, and I wanted Samantha. She had the best accessories and she looked like me (in all honesty I was a dead ringer for Molly but didn't want to admit it.) My sister had a classmate/rival with a modern doll and an Addy. My sister bullied me into asking for Addy. For the rest of our childhoods, anytime I told her how mean that was because she knew I wanted Samantha, she'd call me a racist.

I bought a Samantha when I was a grown-up, but it's not the same. And I'm considering ratting my sister's behavior out to her kids as soon as they're old enough to understand how shitty that was.

TL:DR I'm still holding a childhood grudge against my sister for calling me racist for wanting a Samantha doll.

I don't know why Scrubs Season 9 gets so much hate, but Season 10 is so loved.

They are the exact same show. They even just recycled some of the season 9 backstories for the new interns. Season 9 and Season 10 are the same damn season.

There was a common meme or gif from back in LiveJournal days of a shot of Harrison Ford saying "We're all going to die" and ending with a pouty face. It's been probably 20 years now but I still think of that phrase so much. Sometimes I randomly while working on a task start "We're all going to..." and don't say the rest out loud. I don't know if it's a coping mechanism or what.

I think it should be illegal to have film posters where the characters are shown in a line, and the names of the actors underneath don't match up to the person above them.

You know you've spent too much time watching Babylon 5 when the Centauri hair stops looking daft, and starts looking cool. Yeah, I kinda wish someone cool and famous would start that trend irl just so I could copy them.

I think it kind of sucks that there are no male gay characters in any of the animated ATLA media (that are visibly gay and not Dumbledored in). They can do several female queer characters no problem but gay men? /gasp Too risqué, apparently.
