You know there are very specific diagnostic criteria for this, right? And I have NEVER seen a single fandom person claiming to have it display *anything* remotely like the actual diagnostic criteria symptoms. All I've ever seen then do is act precisely like they're RP-ing with their OCs they made up, or, in a lot of cases, with anime or video game characters they claim are part of their "system." Actual DID cases don't make Tumblr posts where they "switch who's fronting" several times in the same post and ID each new "alter" as it pops up by name and/or font changes

Okay, you're free to believe that everyone who says they're mentally ill in a particular way online is wrong or malicious, I guess? I'm just saying that given my understanding of the prevalence of DID and the proportion of fandom that's neurodivergent, there should be a lot of people with DID in fandom. More than I actually see. Maybe it's true that none of the people who claim to have DID actually have it, fuck if I know, I can't tell whether someone meets diagnostic criteria for anything based on their posts, but you can't either. All that would mean is that there are even more people who have it and don't feel comfortable being open about it.
