I have a feeling that if Xion were a boy (which she basically is, lol) then all the people going "waaahhh u hate Xion bcuz she's a girl!!" would probably be whining about how the fangirls keep slashing Xion with everyone and how there's YET ANOTHER male in the Organization.

Don't kid yourself. If Xion was male, then there'd be the same "WTF" reaction that's going on right now.

You can only ever please so many people. My point is, there are a lot of people who hate her for legitimate reasons, but there are just as many crazed yaoi fans who hate her (and Kairi and Namine) because 'OHMAHGOD TEH BOOBIEZ!' (This isn't slash-hate, I'm a yaoi fan myself.) It's the people who hate her for that reason that piss me off, not the others. I'm sick of all the girl-hate.

Lol wut? Trust me, there are PLENTY of reasons to not be obsessed with Xion. So you like a character most of the fandom dislikes. So? You can still like her without dismissing other's opinions as inferior. Just as you're entitled to love her, I'm equally entitled to hate her.

OP shouldn't presume to know why others hate a character. There are plenty of reasons to love and hate her and you can't generalize. Plenty of people who don't like akuroku hate her too.

Ultimately, a person is entitled to hate her (or any character, for that matter) just as much as OP loves her for any reason whatsoever, even if it's for no reason at all.

I know that there are plenty of people who hate her for legitimate reasons, but a large percentage of the haters just hate her for the same reasons they hate Kairi and Namine- they get in the way of the mansex. (And I'm a yaoi fangirl myself, so it's not slash-hate.) It doesn't piss me off that they hate her, just that many people hate her for a reason like THAT. I'm really sick of the complete lack of girl power in fandom.

The reason I'm inclined to dislike her is because she's shoved randomly into the story, like how Mary Sue's are randomly shoved into fandom. She is pretty, and she does sound very cute. Either way... that's the reason she bugs me.

The only flaw I see in that logic is that you could say that about most, if not all of the characters added after the first game. Like the myriad of Ansems running around. And Riku. And possibly Ven.

Commenting because yay, some Xion love ♥ In my opinion she was a wonderful and tragic character and I wish she wasn't bashed so much. Before I get eaten alive, I'm not saying that it's impossible to dislike her for other reasons than being upset about AkuRoku being broken, only that some fangirls tend to hate her for this reason alone (and I'm not saying that all of them do)

I don't mind Xion, but I preferred things without her mostly because I liked the fanon-trio of Axel, Roxas, and Demyx.

Also, if she were a guy then that would have opened a whole different can of worms complete with its own band of haters.

I reserved judgement on Xion until I played the game, and I really enjoyed her story.

Besides, everyone's memories of her are gone, so it's not like it makes any difference to the story as a whole.

I loved the scenes where Axel, Roxas and Xion were laughing and having fun together. They were so sweet :)

I get the frustration of having a favorite character constantly bashed, but don't lump all the people who don't like her into one group. Saying a character "deserves respect" just because you happen to like her is rather presumptious as well.

I don't hate Xion because she "gets in the way" of AkuRoku (I find that to be a pathetic "reason" anyway). I find AkuRoku one-sided and unhealthy (no offense, fans). I don't hate her either--I just don't like her. She seemed like more of a weak-willed plot device than a character (especially considering the ending), I felt the whole "androgynous back-up keyblade owner" idea was silly, her design and placement into the story as the "Kairi stand-in" annoyed me (just like it did with Namine'), and overall I thought she was just boring.

No offense towards her fans, of course. I don't think she's the best KH character but she's by no means the worst in my book.

Funny, I always found the KH fandom had a habit of putting the female characters up on pedestals. IE Aqua is already considered "incredibly awesome" and loved for some reason, and her game isn't even out yet.

Eh, I don't put much stock in KH canon anyway. AU's and fanon are far better.

I'm not even that hardcore of a Kingdom Hearts fan, but I really like Xion. Honestly, there's always going to be the fans who hate on female characters, but that's fandom for you. It can be fickle and shallow and petty, but it can also be fun and rewarding, if you chill with the right people.

While I agree that many hate her because she "gets in the way of the buttsex", many do not. I hated Kairi in KH1, way before the only character I ship was introduced. Don't be surprised if the majority don't like her because... they simply don't like her.
