I'd actually read that dystopian Ariel-as-a-resistance-fighter fic. Heck, even the corrupted!Alice or Ursula's really her mom fic would be cool. After all, the movie canon never explicitly stated the relationship between Titan and Ursula; I think it got cut out. Ursula scared the crap out of me as a kid, but as Vanessa, she was deliciously evil, and she's probably one of my favorite Disney villains ever. Even if Disney does make everything have a happy ending, they often create interesting ideas in the process, so it's not a big deal if you branch off from their gooshiness and turn it into something cool. Or if you FIND said something cool, in which case, link pls?

Seriously? You're going to let the politics of the owners of a site take away from what's turned into an actual decent blogging platform, when it's not like they're shoving their personal opinions into your face, restricting what kinds of communities can be made, ads can be shown (on DW: none), etc.?

Are you sure you didn't just fall for the scam those troll groups keep slamming DW with? DW is trying to keep free speech alive when LJ and other blogging platforms shut it down.

I don't know whether the owners being conservative is true or not, but it doesn't matter to me, because their politics don't affect my journal there. My money goes toward making a good blogging site stay alive, and I know if it came down to asking for more transparency about how they allocate money, they'd do it. Heck, if they're giving money on behalf of DW to causes I don't support, if they're at least open about it I can respect that. Might not agree with it and might not renew, but I expect they'd be open about it and let the users decide: that's what they've done with pretty much everything else regarding the site's policies and execution so far.

Mark is a conservative; Denise isn't. I have not heard anything about them giving profits from DW to political causes on either side of the fence.

I don't see what's wrong with you having cried over it. It's a horrible thing to happen (I didn't cry personally but I'm sure if I was a Gooner I would have) and there's nothing wrong with having empathy, even towards someone you haven't met. (Especially considering some people cry when their team get kicked out of the CL.)
Hopefully Aaron will be okay, he's young and determined so there's a good chance that with modern medicine he'll heal well and play again.

Yeah, that show was boss, even though I don't think they ever really figured out whether they were making The Blade Show Featuring Krista or The Krista Show Featuring Blade. Either way, it was fun times and had enough slashiness for all the boys and girls.

I completely disagree. I think she sounds great in that song and I love hearing her sing it. Also, just because she' best known for her soprano doesn't mean she shouldn't be allowed to sing other songs. As far as I'm concerned, if you can hit the notes, you should be able to sing whatever song you wish. Some people have a wide enoguh range that they can sing soprano and alto songs.

You mean the Dutch version, not the Flemish one, right? The Dutch one didn't hit cinemas here, so I just looked it up at YT. Dude has a very pretty voice, but sounds way younger.

PS I miss when Belgium and the Netherlands got the same dubs...

God I love that book. I still read it regularly, it's just so damned awesome! He doesn't just buy his way out of problems, he buys his way out intelligently, using his money to help get the desired results rather than jumping right there! It's amazing! And shows money can be an effective tool too!

I read the sequel that's just Asprin and enjoyed it, but I was warned off the co-written sequels by a serious MythAdventures fangirl who thinks Asprin just wrote outlines for them, and the co-author did most of the actual writing, which messed up all the voices. So, for me, canon ends at Phule's Paradise, and the rest is author-approved fanfic. ;-)

They have gone to the mat to support the freedom of writers there, and REFUSED to censor material that was legal in the United States, even though PayPal and other pay sites dropped them because of it. Livejournal caved into the right wing censors and agreed to censor, and compromise free speech.

I'm in the process of writing Ursula's backstory in a fanfic. In my headcanon, she's Ariel's mom and goes severely twisted after some traumatizing thing happened. Maybe Triton cheated, I dunno. Still figuring it out. But yes, I love damn near all of the Disney villains.

you're not going to see this, but that version would be cool, because instead of Ursula being evil, see could really be trying to make Ariel see that all men are faithless or something like that.

I just re-watched the vid where Ursula takes Ariel's voice. A lot of that song is about how men don't like it when women talk. Maybe Ursula was a women's rights activist and got thrown out because of that, or fell in love with a human or something.
