This secret makes me smile.

Lulz I just watched that movie last night..mostly because another fandom secret reminded me to. It certainly didn't "ruin my life" though.

You're fic would be a good idea but...well...this would include a spoiler so I'll stop xp

SPOILERS: the doctor is killed at the end of the film. So are the two police officers who have come to investigate the disappearance of the tourists. Two of the victims are dead at the end and the one still alive is trapped between them. I like your sense of hope, but the end of the film leaves little hope for her survival. She couldn't possibly move the other two bodies to escape, even if she was able to get to a phone she doesn't speak the language and her mouth is sewn to a man's anus, so that's not going to be helpful... the only option I could think of for her would be if the police sent someone else to follow up the disappearance of the other two officers. Which, thankfully, actually seems kind of likely since they had returned to get a search warrant before coming back to the house and it's likely they shared the uncooperative behavior of the evil doctor. So maybe she will survive, but the doctor already got his fate... though a much easier one than he deserved.

I'm just going to assume you're not planning on seeing the movie and tell you that the doctor gets shot in the head at the end. And the surviving girl totally could have cut the other two people off her with a piece of the broken glass that's all over the place, and more cops almost certainly would have shown up eventually to find out why the first two who went to the doctor's house disappeared.

Still like the secret though. You have an interesting/funny mind, anon.
The only *deeper* thought I ever gave this was a discussion with my friend about how the writers (or whoever came up with that idea) got the movie approved by a movie company.

not the op

This secret just reminded me of a time I did the same thing. I'd seen a movie that starred someone I had a huge crush on, and he kind of got buried alive at the end (I'm being vague to not spoil anyone, though it's a movie from the 80s). Being young and particularly anxiety-ridden, this movie completely flipped me out . . . until I settled down and made myself imagine an elaborate scenario where I was a character there who knew him and was there to dig him out.
It's amazing how therapeutic something like that can be.

[identity profile] cakemage.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Gah, just reading the title of this movie makes me nauseated, but your ending actually eases the trauma a bit. So, thanks, OP.

Rock on, OP.

Though the fact this movie even EXISTS lowers my faith in humanity. And makes me really hate what the horror genre has become. :(

Oh forget logic, I totally do that with things that leave a nasty feeling in my head as well. I like your ending for the girl, anon. (Though yes, the Doctor apparently does die in the movie anyway.)

(Anonymous) 2010-07-15 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Before it was jossed in sequels, I had a fix-it ending in my head for the first Saw movie. (I mean, relatively "fix-it." Obviously no one is ever going to be A-OK after something like that.) So this makes perfect sense to me.

And then there are movies that end so disastrously that, if I love any of the characters too much, I just make up some AU where they're all accountants or something.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-16 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
I like the way you think OP, although I'd be much more supportive if the two girls in this movie weren't a prime example of Too Dumb to Live (still no one deserves what happened to them, ughhh).

[identity profile] inktrap.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
F!S don't want to let me forget about this movie, argh. I'm very glad your secret was happy, at least.
(Thought it still made me remind of… YEAH MOVING ON)

(Anonymous) 2010-07-16 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
"a typical shock-porn fetish movie and mapplethorpe-like attempt to push the limits of "art"

You felt it appropriate to drag an artist who took some of the 20th century's most remarkable photographs into your complaint against this year's banal gross-out horror film. Well done.

Given your use of quotes ("art"), I really doubt you're familiar with Mapplethorpe's gritty, elegant body of work as a whole, his driving obsessions, the personal agendas present in his work, or his skill with a camera.

Perhaps you're thinking of some other crocked-up OH NO CHALLENGING ART IS CHALLENGING controversy from the 90's. Try again.

oh lawdy, this is the best secret ever.

At first I was like "aw fuck another human centipede secret and I'd just forgotten about it too" and then I was like "wait" and then it was all "~*~*~HAPPY~*~*~"

you have officially written my canon ending. <3 Mainly because, yanno, it was so happy. And stuff.

(anon because this is embarrassing)

I did something similar after being forced to watch Saw. I'm not good with the most baby of horror movies and that one did a right number on my psyche.

...so I hooked my friend into an RP with our RP characters captured by Jigsaw along with the guy with the kid, and said characters easily broke out the traps (due to various odd abilities) and went on to raise supernatural hell on the old bastard's head. It made me feel better, certainly.
