(Anonymous) 2007-05-29 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)It could've been worded better, yes. But the above is what I meant to say. The best writer in the world could want to play in the game I'm in, but if they're going to be immature brats then I don't want to play with them, yes?
Re: 16
Then why would you decline them from your game because of their age? :\

Re: 16
Plus, I can kinda understand why someone would be wary of RPers under a certain age. Myself, I can be a little skittish around under-age RPers at first because those are generally the ones who will get upset at me for my character's actions, or if I refuse to play something with them. It isn't fair to the sane under-agers and I know it, but once burnt and all that.

(Anonymous) 2007-05-29 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)The point is, it's not because they're 15 and not because of their writing ability, it's because of their immaturity. I hate when they claim either of the two when it has nothing to do with that. Does it make sense now?
Re: 16
However, admittedly we may be more aware of the consequences of our actions
- or not. :/

Re: 16
It's just that you singled out the >15 age group; I can see why people would take it as an ageist comment. (I kinda did but wasn't totally sure.) In the writing and art forums I frequent people play the age card all the time as an excuse for bad writing or bad behavior, or claim that everyone who tells them to shut up already is just jealous of their abilities. If any of them wanted to join an RP or whatever I was starting I'd probably kick them out right away for their attitude no matter how great their technical skills were, 'cause that counts for nothing if you don't have people skills to go with it. So, uh, if you were talking about that then I've absolutely no problem with you or your secret. =D
It's not like you can usually tell ages over the internet anyway, unless the person says they're 16 or whatever. If you type properly and don't act like a moron people generally assume you're 15+; if you don't people assume you're a whiny preteen. Talent/maturity might have a correlation with age but they're not proportional.
