I never quite understood the point of pairing wars. Everyone has their favorites and it's not like it'll be the end of world if one pairing is canon while the other isn't. Admittedly there is only one pairing ever that has bothered me, but it's not like the world is gunna go KA-BOOM because of. D:

I'm also totally not "spited" by Seph/Tseng. I'm just like okay whatever 8)?

I think everyone has their preference, but it's a lot nicer to see people just not get all huffy-stabbity over it. :D It's not like we're being paid to promote pairings. :B

If pairings were the only thing that mattered in fandoms, I think a lot of this would have all gone straight to h-e-double-hockey stick ages ago. D:

If people want that then they should stick to soap operas or something - pairings are really all that matter in those shows.

It does make sense! That's pretty much what I look for. And especially, I really keep an eye on character interactions. When there is a variety of character relationships [and this ranges from sibling to friends to even enemies] it tends to appeal to me more then if it's only romance, romance and more romance.

The pairing bullshit is one reason I left one of my old fandoms years ago. All people ever talked about was pairings, and the wars that ensued from that ruined the fandom for me completely.

Despite the fact that I prefer the Tseng/Rufus pairing, Sephiroth/Tseng doesn't bother me at all. I've even read a few fics with that pairing.

I don't hate the Sephiroth/Aeris pairing, I'm just rather confused by it. I mean loving a guy who shoved a nine foot masamune through your gut strikes me as a bit masochistic. But if people want to write it and others want to read it it doesn't bother me. After all the characters are fictional to begin with.

I usually like seeing Sephiroth/Aeris explored with a sane Sephiroth -- because the guy had to be sane at one point, and I've seen sort of "resurrection" fics that have him returning to sanity as well. I'll admit that crazy!Aeriseph really doesn't do it for me, for the same reason you mentioned. When he was nuts, he killed her.
