15. OMG. I hate Alltel Wireless for the EXACT SAME REASON. They made fun of D&D in a recent commercial and that was just IT for any sort of tolerance of them whatsoever.

9. Agreed. My ex was a 4channer and well ... there's a reason he's my ex now.

19. The ones who made fandom hell for me were all from southeast Asia and were annoying rabid fangirls who thought they were the characters and wanted to be boys.

[identity profile] hako-neko.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
9. Then you should probably hate 80% of the people on the internet.

14. I didn't enjoy the first two books, but I recomend 3-5-- those were actually entertaining. I can understand your enjoyment of roleplaying it, though. At first I didn't like the series, but I enjoyed the thought of the Slytherin house. I roleplay a Slytherin, too and I don't really concider myself to be that big of a fan of the books.

[identity profile] zeto.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I roleplay Draco *and* another Slytherin in two separate rps, haha! Seriously though, I've even had dreams about Tom Felton. *coughs* <.< Slytherins are fun though! (And I like the colour green ...:P)

1. The way I see it, it is a polite thing to do, but when it comes down to it, if the plot is going in that direction, short of some kind of catastrophe, there's not much you can do to stop it.

3. Ahaaa, I'd love it. But then I'm an attention whore like that. XD

9. Hi there! :D (semi-active) Maybe you've seen one of my Fire Emblem threads over in /cm/? ♥

16. While I can't say I particularly like the stereotypes, I do admit to writing them inadvertantly quite a lot, so... yeah. Creativity is good.

18. Oh god... XDDD I can't help it, I love it.

11. Werd. Total werd. My own aloe plant lurks next to my computer, giving me dirty fandom thoughts.

[identity profile] zeto.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I never realized aloe was like that. I mean, a cactus would be obvious, but aloe...? I'll have to think on that one. O.o

6. Expressing a like for yaoi isn't bad, expressing a dislike for yuri is lame when you do the former because it is implying that rather than you being for homosexual relationships because they are relationships, you are only interested in it as much as it pertains to your hormonal interests/fetish or how 'cute' you think it is. It just seems retarded. That is my opinion, some people will think completely differently.

20. This is really mean, but as a real lesbian, I can't stand 'fandom lesbians.' You are not a lesbian just because you can crush on girls that you RP your yaoi OTP with, sorry. If you are lesbian you can like het and man on man porn, but the latter is the only way you can get off, your 'lesbianism' has a lot more to do with fandom than an actual active sexual interest in women, I'm sure. Or maybe it's because bishounen just look like flat girls with dicks.

[identity profile] pimmy.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
6. im not into yaoi OR yuri, but i dont see anything wrong with liking something because it appeals to a fetish, and not liking something because it does the opposite. it's nothing to do with ones opinion on homosexuality, just with ones personal opinion on whats "hot".

Errrr, as co-spawner of mukips, and an active 4channer, I'm sorry? We're seriously not all bad.

Honestly, though. Most of the older 4channers hate the new ones- and the 4channers that aren't dicks are really reluctant to discuss their status as 4channers- they don't want it to define them. I hope you havn't just been running into the 15-year-old gaiafags who think they're cool for spewing a meme a minute.

9. 4chan ruined some of my friends. I can't stand their jokes anymore.

12. I found the Sora to my Riku~ 8D We're a real dorkfest together.
16. I ♥ ukes. I hate it when people turn it into something derogatory.
19. I think that's because most fandom is run by bitchy white girls in general. XDD
20. Exact same here. Doesn't necessarily have to be roleplay, though. I kind of thought I was weird for that... DX

9. I love the macros as well. The only area I have any real issue with is /cgl/ because it's just a cesspool. The rest of 4chan ... well, even I will laugh about some stuff, but I do think people over on /cgl/ souls eventually are eaten ... like my ex who is probably posting lies about me up there now as revenge. 6. I happen to like yaoi better because I'm not that sexually attracted to other girls. Some yuri IS quite good and I enjoy it from time to time, but it just doesn't do much for me. I can't see why people would call that hypocritical.

13. ...?

Not!Fandom (formerly 15). Lamers. :(

(Anonymous) 2007-05-30 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
6. Same here. Only I don't dislike it, I simply don't have an interest in shoujo-ai & yuri. So I don't watch/read/etc it. It's as simple as that.

8. The PoT fandom both scares and annoys the hell out of me. And I've been a "fan" for nearly 4 years now. All I can say is ...take it in stride, I suppose. If people really do give you shit for what you like, try your best to take it with a grain of salt, & move on? I definitely know where you're coming from though, and really agree as well. Look a little deeper though, and you'll find some really nice, down to earth fans of the series. :)

9. Despite being a big /b/tard, I can't really blame you. If it makes you feel better, however, most of the posters aren't being serious at all (taking advantage of the anoynmous mask) and don't act that way in real life. Though that's just based on my experience, so don't quote me on that.

[identity profile] pimmy.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
its true! there was a "confessions" thread in /v/, and most people admitted to trolling games and systems they LIKED, enjoying things /v/ hates, and simply going with the crowd.

[identity profile] luzerna.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
3. This secret made me laugh.

6. Eep. Something tells me this one is going to get a lot of backlash.

I don't think it's wrong... just as long as you're not hating on real lesbians. Yuri is a genre, which means it's got the genre conventions and cliches and whatnot. If you don't like it, then you don't like it. I don't like a lot of it either because the plots are boring (or a lot of male/male stuff, for that matter, because the plots are all the same).

10. I'm on Gaia all the time. x( Never heard of the other three though.

(Anonymous) 2007-05-30 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
10. Varus has a wonderful community but is on the slow side. Menewsha's fast-paced and usually tolerant but they don't allow bumping. Zantarni is slow and asshole-ish, but their avatars and site design is pretty (when it works.)

[identity profile] xspin.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)

6. I ♥ yuri, and only like yaoi 'okay', so while I don't see how you can think it's weird, I can see how you'd not be really into it I guess. :B

1. The wording of this secret confused me and I had to read it like twenty times to realize what was going on. I r retarded.

4. WTF HOT

9. 4chan...the place of repetitive memes and repetitive macros and SHOCKING pictures that end up being not so shocking. Admittedly, sometimes very funny things come from it, but not often.

18. I'm a DBZ fan, but this cracked me up. ♥

19. :( Dont b like dat, bb

20. Can't say I relate AT ALL, but I do feel 'empowered' or more extroverted/free to channel my own immature energies when I play immature characters ..which I almost always do. I think it's all about where you channel your energies. BUT DON'T FORGET HOW HOT GIRLS ARE. I'm totally gay as hell forever and ever and ever, but I am definitely straight for some fictional men. I don't get off to them, but they are the only men I can crush on :( fandom has a weird power over people's sexualities :((( AND APPARENTLY MAKES YOU A PEDO

1. I agree. All the relationships my various characters get in are purely accidental. It's more fun that way!

6. The wording of this is kind of strange. Boys liking each other is cute, but girls liking each other is weird? I can understand you saying that it just ain't your cup of tea, but calling it weird? Weird? Does this extend to real-life lesbians or just fictional ones?

9. rofl. yes.

10. Ewwww, Gaia. I had a friend who ended up failing (or coming close to failing, anyway) English class because she spent all of her spare time on there instead of doing work. Plus there's the illiterate fanbrats whose posts are barely legilable.

I guess neither of those are the site's fault, but I stay far away from it for those reasons.
