Words cannot express how much I agree with you, OP. I don't think they've looked into anything regarding Ohio at all while working on Glee. (I live in Ohio so some of the stuff that goes on/they say/etc just breaks my brain.)

I made that trek every day for three years. It's not that bad. It's just under an hour and a half, most days, and can be as quick as an hour and fifteen minutes if the traffic is right.

As for there being other big cities closer? There really aren't.

...I travel almost 2 hours to and from school, how is this impossible?

Don't get me wrong, he probably should have put it closer... but it's not impossible. I do it 6 days a week!

It's not that unusual for someone to make a trip like that every day. In fact, lots of poeople would make trips like that to work every day.

:O! My hometown is on that map!

I don't watch Glee, and although I knew it took place in Lima, I didn't realize any of the action took place in Westerville. ♥

To be honest, though, I don't think the distance is so unrealistic. If they were going to go with a Columbus suburb, I would've picked Upper Arlington -- assuming they still have a reputation for fancy schools in that district (as they did when I was in high school).

I'm just excited that my hometown is on the map :) I know people who drive over an hour each way to work everyday, though, so it isn't that impossible.

(Anonymous) 2011-02-19 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't watch this show, but I wanted to say that I made that kind of commute to school every day. It's a little out there, but it's not impossible.

[identity profile] la-petite-singe.livejournal.com 2011-02-19 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
...THAT'S your biggest problem?! Really?? This fandom's ability to find new stuff to be mad about it is astounding.

[identity profile] dullscythe.livejournal.com 2011-02-19 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I never realized how much living in Los Angeles has affected my perceptions, because when I saw this I was like, "1 hour and 45 minutes? That's not an unreasonable commute time to get to a special school."

[identity profile] nomorenoodles.livejournal.com 2011-02-19 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't watch Glee, but my bus journeys to and from college also take 1 hr 30 mins to and fro everyday.

[identity profile] verschreibsel.livejournal.com 2011-02-19 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm torn. I don't really care if it's accurate because I don't live in the US so I would never have known. I mean Glee makes tons of mistakes anyway.

But I can't decide if I like the posibilities boarding opens or if I want the Hudmels to live together.

*points to Cleveland* THERE'S ME!

lol I love this secret. That is really ridiculous.

(Anonymous) 2011-02-20 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
if you watch glee and expect continuity, you're doing it wrong

devil's advocate, tho - i commuted almost 2 hours each way to and from school for 3 years

[identity profile] archerstar.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Ryan Murphy? Meet Stephenie Meyer. You have some fail in common.

[identity profile] barefoot-starz.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
I was under the impression that Dalton was a boarding school. So, I assumed that Kurt stayed in the dorms and travelled down at weekends or for special occasions during the week.

Also, seriously? 1 hour and 45 minutes is not that huge a commute. It took me a train, two buses and 2 and a half hours each way to get to and from University 5 days a week for 4 years. So, 1 hour and 45 minutes, yeah, its not just a walk around the corner... but its doable.

[identity profile] 4-and-20.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
You're watching a show where people spontaneously burst into song. Its called suspension of disbelief, use it...or, IDK, find a new show and stop complaining.

I know there's a ton wrong with glee but I don't complain because I know what I signed up for.

[identity profile] dynus.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Hi home state! Hi hometown!

*ahem*

Anyways, I just pretend Kurt's boarding and goes home on the weekends, and makes Finn drink warm milk while they Skype their "Ladychat"

A two hour trip is normal for a job, or say college where less classes are taken at time, there's sometimes an hour or two between class, and library or computer lab to do things.

A two hour trip for a high school student, with an extracurricular that takes an hour and a half to three hours depending on the situation (Less at the beginning of the school year, more closer to competitions) plus an average of a half an hour of homework per class (if not more)... yeah...

Epic Fail

weekends are a possibility, but not daily travel back and forth... i went to college five hours from my home town, and still made it home every other weekend :P

[identity profile] stepsolightly.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Every time they say "Lima Losers" or whatever they say, my mom gets a disapproving look on her face. She grew up right around there and all our relatives are from there! XDD;;;

[identity profile] ether-bunny.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
Lmao so true. But I actually live in Westerville and I admit it was pretty exciting to see a sitcom reference it even slightly.

[identity profile] lesbido.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
lol geography fail

(Anonymous) 2011-02-20 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Am I the only one who's thinking....that's not that far?

I didn't live on campus, so I drove to college, and it was like a 1:15h drive every day, so like 2,5 hours a day, and I did that for several years, 3 to 5 times a week depending on how courses were.

A less-then-2 hours drive to see friends one or two times a week, especially if you have a car, doesn't seem that outlandish.
