MTE. I was thinking more of it providing hope than anything else like what others here are suggesting. OP never said it was more important than money/food/shelter/etc. Just that it could help lessen the pain they're going through. God knows if I were in a similar situation, I'd want anything possible to lessen the hell I'd be going through.

Some people find solace in prayer. Others find it in music. Others find it in a myriad of other places. What's so horrible about it? :/

Hinting, not the best strategy. And sometimes it fails spectacularly. Best to be upfront, or at least point to it and say why you're pointing to it so they know what to look for. They don't have the same lens you do, the same self-consciousness.

That was awfully mean sounding of me but... yeah it's not that big of a deal. I like LJ. I like being able to make comments without a really restricting word limit (which is why I never got a twitter because 140 characters is WAY TOO SMALL FOR MY RAMBLINGS) and LJ is more inter-active-y and there is more communication going on.

I like tumblr because it allows me to just post my drawings (fandom related or not) quickly and without having to copy paste a lot of imgur links or what have you. But I admittedly never use LJ for picture spams because I always associate LJ as more of a diary-type of thing so I just don't feel right posting art on it? I digress. Tumblr and LJ are completely different beasts and I honestly can't see how people can switch completely to one or the other.

I like how a secret that starts out "Many of my Hetalia friends were worried about me and DIDN'T bring Hetalia into it" and is about a very small group of people turns into a ragewank about THE EVIL HETALIA AND IT'S FANGIRLS(especially considering the op is a Hetalia fan)

I also like how Hetalia is the reason these people are assholes, not because they're immature 12 year olds, or because their parents never told them such things are not appropriate, or because they're just insensitive shitheads, or any other logical explanation. Obviously the Japanese cartoon is why these people act this way, of course.

I like this rule, and would like to add to it: If someone paraphrases someone else's opinion with ALL-CAPS, typos, and a plethora of exclamation points, or punctuates said phrase with OMGs and LOLs, then they are also constructing a blatant and irritating strawman.

Few things on the internet bug me more than when people do this.

The Bechdel Test isn't about critiquing any particular text. It's about cumulative effect. Applying it to a single canon means nothing - the entire point is the utter mindfuck of realising how few works meet such minimal criteria when looking at culture as a whole.

Complaining that something doesn't pass Bechdel is about pointing out that its contributing to a greater cultural problem of women's stories not getting told because all the time and money goes into men's stories. I think that's perfectly legitimate feminism.

This is some D-- trolling right here; it's not the worst I've ever seen, but it's way too obvious and dull. Beginner level at best. Some feedback:

1. Try to vary your responses. You sound like a broken record and repeating the same phrase over and over again is both a dead troll giveaway and not creative/entertaining.

2. The Fandomsecrets stereotype is either that everyone is a roleplaying lesbian or that everyone had a perverted crush on Mickey Mouse when they were kids, not that they're pedophiles. You're confusing them with the 4chan stereotype, so there's dissonance that makes your trolling less effective.
