The only interesting thing about that show was the love triangle. What are we supposed to talk about? The boring giant bugs? The crappy two dimensional supporting cast? Space planes that have only a few cosmetic differences from the space planes in the other Macross series?

Obviously I disagree. I like the supportive cast all right and even more than that hilarious triangle.

The only originality it had from the rest of the Macross triangles was the yuri possibilities.

The ship wars were the main reason I stopped caring about the fandom, and the hordes of shippers still gloating and bashing (on one side) and gnashing their teeth (the other side, though to be honest I see way more of the former - it may be just the places I've been to) were the main reason I wished I hadn't looked back to check for details and spoilers.

Me, I'm disappointed because 1) boooooring, and 2) SherylxRanka FOREVAR. *clutches fanart* I think I'm just going to forget that the movies exist and stick to the series.

I see more for the latter in youtube and the former in forums. They are stupid in different ways. That's why I wish that to stop.

You can do that, but both are canon. Play Triagle video game or watch the Nyan Nyan Clip. It's combining them and retconning Ranka's and Sheryl's characterizations to fit their movie selves. Because it's the way Kawamori wrote them and he has the final say in the Macross Franchise. It happened with Flashback 2012 and the original Macross.

You can discuss side characters without bringing out how they affect the triangle. That Nanase ships AxR or that Clan ships AxS. Or talk about the music without bringing out that was "intended" to make a side a winner or not.

Or discuss about who is going to be missing in action, killed in action or otherwise not in the future of the Franchise and their possibilities of cameo.

First of all: YAY MACROSS FRONTIER SECRET

I can only assume you're talking about movie canon, since the love triangle is never resolved in the show. Is the second movie out? Did Alto/Sheryl resolve itself?

Anyway, in the context of Macross discussions, show canon generally trumps movie canon, and show canon never resolved the love triangle, so if you think that anything that happens in the movie is going to bring an end to the shipwars that (apparently?) are really bad in that fandom, you're probably mistaken.

I loved Frontier, but I really didn't care how those particular ships resolved, because: Alto/Sheryl/Ranka is my OT3. I mean, c'mon: "You two are my wings!"

That shit is basically canon as far as I'm concerned.

The production said the love triangle in Frontier would be resolved in the movies. The movies were co-written by Shôji Kawamori and are more his brainchild than the series were.

The pairing wars are tiring me when they sneak into character, music or plot discussions. I don't care who "won" and who "lost". Probably not, but I wish it did.
