Anyway, I actually think it's sort of refreshing to have a 'natural female' portrayed as being quite awkward and strange in that way that adolescent girls often are but that you don't see much of on tv. I feel like it would almost cheapen it if you explained Tina's weirdness by saying "yah, she's like that because she's transitioning." I like the way the character exists as a girl who was born in a girl's body but just doesn't quite know what to do with that body yet.

This, plus I don't know where the stereotype that trans people must be ugly/ugly or awkward females must be men etc came from. (I know some really hot mtfs and ftms.) Reminds me of the secret a little while ago where someone said that Kesha (and someone else I don't quite recall who) must be a guy because they don't think she's pretty.

I'm pretty sure that by "natural" the OP meant "biological." There's a ton of transphobia in the world, so there's no need to see it where it's not really there.

The term 'biological' is also problematic. As people point out, if transgendered people aren't biological, then what are we, robots?

...actually I like that idea. :|

What if a cis female person has had her ovaries and uterus removed? Is she still a natural woman? :|

and, yeah... it gets ambiguous when you're especially referring to a medically transitioned trans person, because then they're technically not biologically what their birth sex was. Hormones do things. Biological things.

No, over-reactions on others' parts. Gender is a social construct that you can choose at will. Sex is not, without a shit ton of work.

...you can't choose your gender. You can choose your gender expression, but you can't choose your gender. If people could choose their gender that easily, there wouldn't be a suicidal ideation rate of 80% among transgendered youth. (about 40% of whom successfully commit suicide by the age of 20.)

Because all ugly females must really be trans, right? Ugh. If there wasn't so much wrong with this one I'd find it laughable that you call your headcanon "inspiring".

I think it might have more to do with the fact that the character is voiced by a male voice actor even though she's a girl. Which was probably meant to be funny, but still, I can see how someone would want to see the character as trans because of that

Perhaps. Loads of characters are voiced by the opposite sex, though usually it's a female voicing a male, and the character's gender is never brought into question.

That is a good point

Though from a practical standpoint, I can understand why women do the voices of younger male characters pretty often. Unless you can find someone of the same age to do the voice (and there aren't a lot of kid actors doing voice acting, really) a male voice actor is probably going to sound too old

Except Dr. Girlfriend is also voiced by a man... and is biologically female, despite what Brock says.
