I get what you mean, OP, but I feel that way about...well, most fandoms. People can ship whoever they want.

But when they decide to make EVERY character paired up (Homosexual or not) it kind of bugs me.

I get vaguely irritated when I read fic and all of the characters are straight/gay, but ngl I kind of ship all of the pairings you indicated in the secret. SORRY, OP.

Though I'd hold off on any Robin shipping until he was older, I just can't do it when he's still that young.

Why care? Wally is obviously not homosexual, or at least the only interest he's ever shown is in women/Miss Martian (he's a huge flirt) And Miss Martian is very much crushing on Superboy, who in turn is showing signs of returning that crush.

If you don't like the fanon, just ignore it and stick to the canon.

Depends for me.

I mean, for one, I can't buy that EVERYONE hooks up at the same time, or by the end whatever. And like anon above said, it's kinda lame in that they don't seem to socialize with anyone outside their group.

Secondly, if I get the vibes that the author is just ham-handling the femslash to ward off any, "y u only like the mens," I just kinda have to backspace away.

THEY HAVE SUPERPOWERS/GENIUSNESS AND ALL COLLECT IN A NICE LITTLE TEAM THOUGH your suspension of disbelief is weirdly picky to me.

All of them homosexual yes. Bugs the crap out of me. Bisexual though, don't mind so much. Mind you, I like my bisexuals to actually have atleast a passing mention of liking both sexes.

I have to wonder if I'll ever be able to ship Kaldur with anyone but Richie again in the near future. I don't know what it is about that pairing, but it's stuck with me even if it is a cross over.

Yeah, definitely, their superpowers, the idea of Atlantis and Martians, that's all fine, manageable. But, whoa, too many LGBT individuals or relationships and the whole thing just cracks under the weight of your disbelief.

The real question here is, does that loss of suspension of disbelief render you unable to read those fics? And if so, why?

Not in YJ fandom, but the Everyone's Inexplicably Gay Now trope irritates the fuck out of me.

It's almost always so throwaway too. One might be just starting to get invested in the possibilities of, for example, a Babs/Dinah fic when suddenly Dick and his boyfriend Roy come in having just gotten back from the civil union of Bruce and Ollie. Babs angsts to Dick about her secret love for Dinah, so he suggests she talk to Helena about how she seduced Zinda, or to Selina who's been with Peej, Zatanna and even Diana all in the last week, tee-hee!

It's ludicrous. There's no backstory for any of it, no investigation of how the world would be changed if being gay were that common, nor any explanation of them being a consciously out group of people who'd built their own queer community. It just renders the entire scenario wildly implausible and raises way more questions than the fic is ever going to answer. We're just to take it as read that in this version of the universe none of the standing romantic entanglements count, because everybody woke up one day and got their pride on.

Maybe some like that, for me it's an instand back-buttonable offence. Which then annoys me for being a missed opportunity for goodfic.

Eh, in my close circle of friends (about ten or so?), most of them identified as gay or bi. Certainly unlikely, but I don't see it so much as the BE ALL AND END ALL, SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF RUINED FOREVER that some people seem to.

Whether the pairings are all straight or all gay (or a fair mix), I just don't like it when everyone is paired up with no development between the relationships. Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for everyone to be fully developed and having every layer of a romance, with arguments and makeups and all that, but I do get tired of the Pair the Spares type of writing. If you're going to do it, give a little something that shows that, yes, this is why THIS pairing works better than THAT one here.

Too often I've found fic in other fandoms that have a million side pairings that contribute absolutely nothing, not even with warm-and-fuzzy-feelings, so it just bugs me that the pairings are even there when there could have been just general friendships alongside the main romance.

While I can see how that would be annoying, what's going on in cannon as of episode 9 honestly bugs me just as much. We're 9 episodes in out of 26 and they've already basically established their pairings as far as I can tell. I find it really unnecessary. :/

Just because two men are together does NOT automatically make them both homosexual. Some of the fanwriters could see them as bi or pan or whatever blah blah blah.
