Personally I started watching BECAUSE of the angels. The angels should just get a spin off and then we'd all be happy.

I, meanwhile, find the angel storyline the only thing about this show worth watching. That's what I fell in love with. /kanyeshrug

It's a problem of different strokes for different folks. There's a lot of people like you in fandom from what I understand, but I'd bet money there's a lot of people like me too. (And not just the Cas fangirls.) If this show is going to survive much longer, they need to find a balance stat.

This. I was re-watching a few episodes from seasons 1-3 and was amazed by how good they were in comparison. But yeah there are a lot of people who feel this way.
The angel storyline should have ended ages ago.

Urgh, this again. Once they went down the demon route - season 3 demons, not old Yellow Eyes - they backed themselves into a corner. The angels and the apocalypse gave it something new. The motw style episodes only works for so long without larger and more complex story threads to, you know, move the story along. And Dean had to die, etc.. I don't agree with a lot of choices they've made, but the two of them hunting like they used to in season 1 wouldn't work anymore. I miss the horror elements the most, but 6 seasons of that? No thanks.

I really wish they'd made more of the special kids/Sam as boy-king. It doesn't fit right with the vessal storyline. But I can't dislike the angels too much because that gave us Marksha. Really, there should have been more Lucifer. Way more. And more zombies.

This. I remember watching the first episode and being in awe over such a show. It was so amazing to me back then. the first season is the only true one imo. i don't watch anymore.

Before season six, I wanted the show to focus mainly on Sam and Dean. But personally, I feel like the Winchesters' story ended in season five (with, sadly, Sam in Hell and, not as sadly, Dean with Lisa), and I feel like season six would have been infinitely more interesting had Castiel been the main character, with the OCCASIONAL guest appearance by Dean (or maybe even Sam).

Season six's "plot" was all over the damn place, and the war in Heaven was the most interesting bit of it. If Castiel, Crowley, and Balthazar had been the main characters (with Raphael as the sole Big Bad), I think it would have been a LOT more interesting.

So, I'm sorry, OP, but I'm going to have to disagree with you here. I love the boys, and while season two remains my favorite, I just feel like the show NEEDS a fixed plot and Big Bad, and that it would be most easily obtained by picking the strongest plot and sticking to it -- i.e., whatever is going on in Cas' little world.

I mentioned this a few comments above, but if they'd just give the angels a spin off we'd all be happy. We can get out of your hair and you can have "your show" back and hey Sam and Dean can even cameo sort of like how Buffy and Angel did. IT WOULD BE GREAT.

What bothers me though is that this has fandom hating each other. I don't hate you even though you hate the angels. We shouldn't hate each other just because we like different things. IT IS SO STUPID. So can't we just get along here? God damn.

I love the MOTW style episodes, but shows need to evolve and expand. Six seasons of just Sam and Dean on the road, taking case after case on an individual basis would just get old. There are only so many ways you can use the MOTW formula before you just end up writing the same episode over and over again with a different monster.

Having said that, there are certain elements of the first couple of seasons that I really wish they'd bring back. Sam and Dean being on the same page, for one - even if only vaguely. And I really wish they'd bring back the scary moments. But I think there has to be some sort of overarching plot (more than just 'find Dad') which introduces new characters and such, because that's what keeps the show from becoming stale.

The first time any bit of 'anti-christ' was mentioned, I changed the channel and never watched another episode. I knew where it was going, and I knew I was going to miss my roadtripping the legendary creatures show.

I also think it's amusing that the first comment asks 'Why is this a secret?', and then stays anon. ^_^'

I think the angel plot is unoriginal and repetitive. It doesn't hold any surprise, you know what's gonna happen: Sam the dark kid turns evil, Dean the good kid has to kill him, in the end both survive and kill the bad guys. Now Castiel is evil and Dean and Sam are gonna try to stop him...the same shit over and over again.

Eh, agree to disagree, OP. I think that the Angels are one of the most interesting parts of the show, and I'd be disappointed if they just wrote them off. I like Sam and I like Dean, but I don't know if I'd like a show that just focused on the two of them at this point. Then again, I did just join in S5, so I haven't been in the fandom for long enough to have seen it when it was just a "Two dudes hunt monsters without Angels" show, so that might have something to do with it.

Can't agree with you there, I'm afraid--I'm a huge theology nerd and love the epic turn the show's taken. And while I like the earlier seasons a lot, I don't think the monster-of-the-week style was sustainable long-term. Something had to change/evolve/develop. But plenty of people agree--why is this a secret?

I'm always surprised when people say this. SPN was getting so tired and repetitive about midway through season 3. I don't think the show would have lasted if it had continued being just a Monster Of The Week show. Especially considering how adverse the characters are from having any development.

I agree, OP. I personally started disliking the show after I got to S4. I then stopped definitively after S5. Can't fathom how the hell this got to S7.
I really enjoyed the MOTW arch. I missed it a lot and I really don't like Castiel, not at all.
(or any other angel for all that matters. I just really liked Anna before she got her grace back.)

As much as I love Cas as a character, I enjoyed the series much more in the first three seasons. Not because I think the angels' story lines were bad, but because their introduction seemed to bump the show from horror to very dark modern fantasy.
