Are you kidding? Trekkies vs. Jedi was once the big thing.

Oh yeah...this comic. I can't reconcile how they put so much work into making it look with and combine it with such terrible, overplayed fannish jokes. OH LOOK HE SAID EPIC FAIL OH MAN LOLOLOLOLOL *vomits*

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Er, look GOOD, not look with, wtf

[identity profile] icarian-ink.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel the same way...but I first heard it in a car commercial in 2003. I'm not sure which is worse.

[identity profile] june-miller.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
My comment was more about being "in love" with fictional characters than falling in love, per se. As for the it doesn't happen to everyone, I agree. That was the "probably" for.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Is someone feeling a little butthurt upon finding out that someone out there dislikes a word they frequently use in their porn fanfiction? Awwww.

[identity profile] june-miller.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't care if I was condescending or not. I have nothing against the ANON, but claiming to know what love is just because she/he was once infatueted with fictional characters and thinking she/he will never fall in love because she felt what she thought what she/he felt was love (and that possibly set up high standards, please) IS a bit immature.

I thought they were cute at first but after a while it got really annoying. I ship Chizuru/Ryu but the anime kinda sunk that ship for me. =( I haven't seen season two yet so it could change but I doubt it.

Comment!secret: I couldn't even get to the second chapter because Sawako reminded me so much of myself that I just sat back and wept. No, I don't find her boring, just friendless and painfully shy. But to each their own...I just ended up identifying with her too much to continue reading, damnit (so I guess my opinion doesn't count so much since I don't know much else about the two.)

[identity profile] anthropomorphe.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
They're adorable and I liked how sincere and nice they both were.

Really, I love everyone in Kimi ni Todoke, l-lol.

[identity profile] anthropomorphe.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I enjoy your posts. You seem like a reasonable person.

[identity profile] goobbledigook.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That sort of squick I can understand and somewhat agree. But for me that as a squick of sexualized babies in general rather than a gay baby. In the early episodes he flirted with grown women and even did this sexy dance for cheerleader girls.

The comments about this behavior being gross only came out when he started acting this way towards the same sex tough, and that I can't agree with.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a Hetalia fan so I know how you feel.

Don't worry, as long as it makes you happy, it doesn't matter what others think.

[identity profile] insanenoodlyguy.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Wrong thread dude, that one is above. This should be the one where we say Op likes rape and pedophilia (because remember Equius is obviously in an abusive sexual relationship with nepeta, canon be dammed, and six solar sweeps dude!)

They have a kismesis with us. They needs this hate.

late comment is late, but, as an english teacher i really wish more of my students looked at things this way :) you go anon!

According to your statistics, the fact that I went to a college with 5,000 students, undergrad and grad, means that I should have been the only trans person there in my entire college career. Despite that, I met two other transmen and one person who was genderqueer, and that's only the people I met face-to-face.

Okay, so that's anecdotal. But since it's really friggin' hard to get accurate stats on the trans* population, there's a kind of ridiculously huge range in the estimates. Yeah, there is the 1:30,000 to 1:100,000 statistic you cite, which I believe is what the American Psychiatric Association estimated in 1994 to be the number of people who seek SRS. Unfortunately, it is no longer 1994, and that estimate doesn't take into account the number of closeted, pre-op, top-only, hormone-only, non-op, non-medical etc. non-cis people.

In 2002, the University of Michigan professor Lynn Conway estimated the percentage of MtFs in the U.S. to be in the range of 1:500 to 1:2500 (of male-identified births). The 2003 LGBT California Tobacco Survey estimated .1% of the California population to be trans*. The Massachusetts Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey estimates it to be .5% of adults in their 2007 and 2009 surveys. The National Center on Transgender Equality estimated in 2009 the figures to be somewhere between 1/4 and 1%. Researcher Gary Gates of UCLA estimates in a 2011 study that there are approximately 700,000 people in the U.S. who have taken medical steps towards transition, which comes out to approximately 1:500.

Oh yeah, and a lot of these studies have difficulty with the whole non-op/pre-op/etc. thing, too.

Update your statistics. Yes, there are people who identify as trans* who will later realize that they really are cis. Yes, there are people who lie online. So yes, some people who claim to be trans* online aren't. And there are reasons to worry about a society and a culture that encourages young people to do this. But a lot of these people who identify as trans* online really are trans*. There are a lot more trans* people out there than most people think, and it's to be expected, I think, to see them out in force online.

Also the title of the latest installment in the series being "A Dance With Dragons" might be a clue for readers/watchers early on that a some point there would be dragons.

Also, the dragon art on everything.

Also, that character being from a house that routinely rode dragons.

And those being dragon eggs.

And saying that dragon eggs would hatch in fire.

And her receiving them in one of the first episodes.

....Yeah, no sympathy for someone "spoiled" by that, really.

^Seconding. I've been racking my brain all morning trying to figure out the source of the image.

I actually talked myself out of a minor depressive state by listening to "Poor Jack". I love that NBC is helping people out. <3

ROFL
I will never be able to unhear this!

I think it's fairly easy to tell which movies are worth watching in 3D and which movies are putting the 3D sticker on for money. I've given four or five films the 3D chances, and only "Coraline" has proven to truly be worth the love and buzz of films in 3D. The rest were either fun in a few small scenes or completely worthless. I wish Hollywood would stop highjacking our wallets. Learn from "Coraline" and only use 3D when it will actually make the experience worth it! All these crappy 3D films are ruining the chances of real 3D gems from being made/viewed!

Because Fallout 3 is the only work that has the ~*right*~ to use the post-apocalypse as a setting. Right. You clearly haven't played Fallout 3 OR read the comic if you really think they're similar.

I don't get the appeal of the young boys. I like my guys in KPop to be relatively....manly. But that leaves Supernova and Shinhwa. Shinhwa still on hiatus, and Supernova is more relevant in Japan so forget Korea.

But yeah, as long as you aren't attracted to real underaged boys in real life I guess you shouldn't worry. I have aunts who creeped on the Backstreet Boys when Nick was still jailbait...so, it's not like this is anything new.
