I wanted Lisa and Dean to be able to be happy, but you're right. It was all based on one weekend of great sex. That's not much to build a relationship on and to still be thinking about it, let alone remember what Dean even looked like all those years later, is kinda sad.

Huh... I've never thought about it that way. That is pretty sad. :-/

Lisa suffered from a lot of poor characterization. I never understood her reasons for being with Dean, and I did feel a bit bad for her.

She wasn't fixated on him at all at the point that we first meet her. Best sex of your life =/= love of your life. She seemed to find it a little awkward when he showed up at her door and really disapproved of him poking into her business until she was in on his job, and even then she was hesitant to know anything else because she was wary of being around a guy who obviously deals with some dangerous stuff. When she took him in, it had to be because she knew he had nowhere else to go.

I also don't see why it's seen as so unlikely that it could have been slightly more than just a one-night stand for either of them. When you really hit it off with somebody, a weekend can feel a lot longer than a weekend. And just because either of them might have been harboring the occasional thought that it's too bad that hadn't gone anywhere, it's not like they're supposed to have already fallen in love or anything.

Yeah, that's how I saw it. Plus...he saved her kid's life. That's reason to care about him when he showed up back in her life after battling the devil. It's not reason in itself to hook up with him again, but that could have come later since she already liked him that way.

I agree with this as well. The OP took the worst possible spin on Lisa's characterization and I don't think it meshes very well with canon. Lisa was willing and happy to show Dean the door when he first showed up. Then he saves her life, the life of her child, and it makes her reconsider. Their year together wasn't perfect, she admits as much, but she also said that she expected Dean to have some problems and was willing to work through them.

I don't know, it sort of feels like the OP is ignoring the impact that their year together had. There was a lot of things that we didn't see. Maybe that was bad writing, but it felt to me that there was a distinct impression of how we should take Dean's year with Lisa and Ben and the OP's interpretation flies in the face of that.

That actually is what went through my head when she was the one revealed to be Dean's 'second chance'.

It seemed super random to me, my exact words were 'Wow really?'

And I also felt really bad for her because there was no way it would last, I mean ... just look at the show's propensity to kill off lady Character's. I'm actually surprised at how long she made it.

I agree. I don't hate Lisa, but I think it's weird that she just let him move into her and Ben's life like that. They didn't really know each other. I never got why she was the one Dean went back to. I thought Cassie would have made more sense. He actually had a relationship with her.

Because he made himself vulnerable to her by letting her know about his life and she dumped him. When she called him up for help, he showed up and she dumped him again (after the truck). I also think the show gets a lot of flack for the "racist truck" episode and wants to distance themselves from it (and I say this as someone who enjoyed that episode).

Dean's not an idiot. He must realize there's a chance Ben is his.

For once I thought, "Wow, someone in the fandom who, for a change, doesn't hate her for being a bad mother/girlfriend/woman/human being." Congratulations OP, you're part of the rest of the crowd. Keep up the hate.

BTW, in my world, it is possible to fall in love with the right person after just one night, and it has nothing to do with sex.

I hate it when people completely reject the possibility of falling in love like that. Just because it's not how it happened to you, or not what you want, doesn't mean it doesn't happen and can't possibly work.

That's...an interesting point, actually. I never really liked her much, but that was because I thought she had the potential to be so awesome and they just didn't follow through on it. Like, she was never more than The Girl Dean Loves; she didn't get to be her own potentially badass character. And I get that that's because that relationship was never really sustainable because of his life and all, but I just wished we'd gotten to know her better. That being said, I don't think him being the best sex she's ever had was a function of her being lonely, I think that's just Dean being a total pimp. And I think she let him into her life because she believed in his good heart and saw how hard he fought to save Ben and the other kids, and she saw how lonely and miserable he was/is. At first I didn't like that whole "you go do your job and come back when you can make time for us" thing because it felt a little doormat-y and enabling, but then my dear

mutantjules compared it to the life of a military wife, and of course I have a total Thing for tragic soldier boys and their romances, so that turned it around...anyway, I see your point, but I also see another side.

But seriously, dude. It's DEAN WINCHESTER. I'd let him move in if I had *never* slept with him, and I'm a Sam girl.
