7. Does it make me less of a fan if I've only watched a few episodes? A friend suggested it to me recently, and I've just started downloading, but since the first episode I fell in love with it. There;s really not enough psychologically-themed anime out there, especially good ones.

So far? Nothing has topped Monster for me, even in the horror genre.

25. You're a shallow asscake. :D

[identity profile] angelogdarknes.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
I ttly agree with this, and I swear I'm not making fun of your response, but when I read the last part, the only thing I could think of was RedvsBlue's second season, when Tucker shot Caboose in the foot, and when Simmon kept firing himself in the foot after Sarge turned him into an android :X

This was my face when I read the secret

Nineteen just scares me, especially when I imagined what it would be like if my parents were like. THat's just...wrong

[identity profile] uncreativity.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
17. Seriously, what the hell were they thinking? NOT ALL GAMES NEED TO BE 3D.

[identity profile] angelogdarknes.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
1. Katamari is the reason I'm afraid of the day I start driving a a car, cause I know that would be my exact reaction

7. I feel the exact same way. I just started the series, but already in love with it. This is the firs fandom I think is so great on it's own, that writting anything for it would be wrong.

9. I always loved apples, and now every time I eat them, all my friends at lunch ask if I have a Death Note with me XD

18. While I guess I kinda understand yaoi fangirls(I may be into yaoi, but so many of them scare me), I don't get how you would even know if people are gay. Half the time you're not even sure of their gender!

19. THat just scares me, honestly. I know I'm not a kid person, and fandom is fun, but this kind of thing just makes me question why the hell they even let you be a parent.

20. I love their uniforms. Absolute Obedience? Bought it just because the two guys on the cover where dressed like Nazi.

Hated the people, loved what they wore.

21. I'm a bit scared of this too sometimes, even if I'd never admit it IRL

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 02:22 am (UTC)(link)

Yeah, he had everyone so fooled initially that US senators were suggesting that perhaps we look to Germany as an example of a way to get out of the depression.

Nazism was visually stunning, but so are most corrupt regimes. If you can entice enough with imagery you can do anything.

I AGREE COMPLETELY.
Ken is not some weak, plain, lovestruck BORING idiot. But adding to all of that, what really bothers me is when he's downplayed simply because his past isn't considered as "terrible and angsty" as the rest. Or people just add angst to make him "important". I mean, especially later on, he's got such potential to play with his character (what with the drama CDs) and...yes.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Wow. Fame at last, I guess?

[identity profile] jenken.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Too true. 7_7 And yet I love/loved it so. Sometimes the fandom would actually give the characters more personality than they had in the anime. OH Weiss. ♥

20. eBay. I want one so badly. Everytime one of my friends cosplays someone from RKO I feel the need to molest them.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 02:46 am (UTC)(link)

eBay also has them. I saw dozens of them the other day when I was vainly hunting down the 3rd Squad ring.

#1 doesn't know you, though. Nice try?

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT IT FEELS LIKE YES.

I sincerely doubt it. She was my Vash in a game I opened on Greatest Journal, that lasted a few months before real life became too much to keep it going.

Unfortunately, she was an awesome Vash and I don't talk to her anymore... We grew apart after the game came to an end. (We were never really that close, but she's still Vash in my eyes.)

I spent the week before the reveal paranoid as hell because I know Nathan's arm when I see it. There was much Vader-like 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-ing' going on in my household that night :(

As the OP of 23, I have to agree with this one. I tend to avoid fandoms until a series is over, because I hate spoilers - not to mention fandom wars and jokes that can alter/ruin your feelings about a character, before they even get a chance... That's what I hate the most about fandom, honestly.

I've seen so many POTC spoilers in this community, alone - and FMA was ruined for me, several times (One spoiler I saw before I even started the series.)

And thanks for the comment on mine, it means a lot to see that I'm not the only real person who does that.

[identity profile] jamiefawkes.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Not at all! I haven't gotten too far in it myself. XD It's amazing how quickly it hooks you in; I haven't seen very many other series with that ability. Even the manga's great; it has you sucked in within the first few pages. And I second the latter; let's not even go towards Akira. XDDD

The thing so many people miss when it comes to Ken and his angst is that it's in the PRESENT, not the past. He's the one that suffers the most from the life of killing, the one that eventually SNAPS because of it. Yohji goes nuts because of Asuka. Aya somehow becomes more stable the longer he does it, and Omi grew up in it and suffers no guilt at all.

[identity profile] angelogdarknes.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
I know! Most of them, the further you read in, the more they capture your interest, but Monster has you from the very beginning. It's weird, cause I'm usually not a huge fan of horror-stuff, but with this series I think it's just...awesome XD

May I friend you? Always nice to have someone to Talk Monster-fandom with, especially when I start watching more episodes and catching up.

[identity profile] pichi.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
I knew it was you, too. And that you're the (other) fan of Omi topping him ~_^ It really is aggravating how overlooked and shortchanged Ken is.

Poster of #8 here. I was 'outed' on page 1, so I'm not bothering to reply anonymously. And God, I am glad I'm not alone.

This may be a personal thing, but I feel that Ken's childhood was pretty rotten, all things considered, and I feel it's almost more affecting for being, at least up until Kase got involved, messed up in an utterly ordinary way. His issues are small-scale, entirely domestic, affect nobody but himself and - again, this is his early childhod I'm talking about, not the Kase stuff - they aren't actually anybody's fault. Things like that just happen sometimes and there's nobody to blame and nothing anybody can do about it. It just happens.

I really hate it when people give Ken a Mary-Sue-Riffic abusive past. It's pretty obvious from the Drama CDs that his family cared for him. He wouldn't have the issues he does if he'd been abused.

If fangirls just thought about it they'd realize how goddamn awful what Kase did to him was. Nobody gets that good at any sport without effectively devoting their life to it. His life was utterly destroyed by someone he thought he could trust. That, to me, is worse than what happened to Aya. At least Aya knows who to blame for what happened to his family and never believed him to be anything other but Evil with a capital EVIL. Ken trusted Kase. His past is easily as messed up as Aya's if not more so - but because he's not emotastically wallowing in misery he's somehow got it easy? Excuse me, fandom, but WHAT.

#9, Yes!

#15, nope, you're not a furry. You're a scaley. Practically the same thing though! XD

#22, you are not alone. There are so many anime that I don't like, but I love the soudntrack.
