being slightly overweight and chubby doesn't necessarily mean you're unhealthy. if you're obese however, then yeah please try to work on that because it really does cause a lot of problems.

I only care when tax payers money, MY money is being used to treat people who are irresponsible enough to get so big.

If we're talking about medical treatment for diabetes or other diseases that can develop as a result of obesity, and the the people in question haven't taken advantage of programs that are readily and affordably made available to them, yeah, I can see where that bugs you.

If we're talking about you not even being willing to support the existence of affordable programs that teach people how to make better food choices and to exercise more frequently, or aid programs for those who have only become obese after becoming physically disabled (they do exist - my boyfriend's father is one example), then you can go fuck yourself. Sometimes the only way to solve problems like this is to put your money where your mouth is.

It's a fallacy that fat people cost society more money. They cost less. Why? Because THEY DIE YOUNGER.

A fat guy who's been diabetic for 10 years and who drops dead of a heart attack at 60 will have cost you less in taxes than the woman of an healthy weight who lives to 105 but spends her last 15 years in an hospice.

The same is true, incidentally, for smokers. On average, they cost less than non-smokers because they don't live as long.

I know it's not likely that you'll come back and read this, given that you posted anon, but I would like to offer a slightly different viewpoint. I always get frightened when I see people who seem upset that fat people can benefit from government research or insurance, because if I were denied insurance because I am sometimes fat, I would honestly die. I have to take daily medication to regulate a hormone disorder, and one of its side effects is weight gain. I do work out and eat very healthy, but if my meds get off the first thing that happens is I start ballooning. I know this is just one person's anecdote, but I am putting it out here as a plea for compassion. Some people are fat because they are sick, not sick because they are fat.

My tax money is being used for public schools and I don't have children. Fuck all those people who are irresponsible enough to have children that need educating! Please try to work on being smaller families because having kids really does cause a lot of problems.

I hate this fallacious argument.
