1. I can see where you're coming from, but I still go the 'separate movie from book' route. It's a cute movie in it's own right, and people who don't know the book can still enjoy movie as ... well, a cute Ghibli movie. I'm interested to see how on earth the Earthsea movie has come out myself

Cartman is incapable of being thin, and he doesn't even seem to want it anyway, but that does nothing to deter the fangirls. D: I remember seeing something on DA about bishie!Eric being from some alternate universe kinda like (not)evil!Cartman, and that amused me, but otherwise... no. And I feel the same about uber-uke!Kyle - whenever I see him written like that, I want to take a cheese grater to my face.

I hate it when characters or pairings are described as everyone's favorite in fic summaries or in messages or - well, pretty much anywhere. It makes me want to dislike them just to be contrary even when I like them already. More of then than not, though, my fandom uses it to describe pairings and characters I'm totally indifferent to at best and think are utterly stupid and irritating at worst. Please to stop telling me how you think I ought to think about [Character X], 'kay, fandom? I'm quite capable of making up my own mind up on who my favorite Insert Inane Character Trait Here is.

I really wish that more people could get their heads around the idea that their favorite character isn't universally popular - and not only will they not be universally popular with the fans, they won't be universally liked and respected or lusted after by the rest of the goddamn cast, either. Why can't certain fan authors stop turning the rest of the cast, regardless of gender, into a bunch of squeeing [Character X] fangirls, utterly ignoring whether the characters in question even LIKE the guy or girl they're lighting up like this?

... oh, that's right. Because that takes actual thought.

1.A lot of people did, so I'll just throw in my two cents,despite it being pretty useless: Read the book after seeing the movie. I'm not really looking for a fidel adaptation. Happened to like the book more,mainly because the characters felt more likeable/striking .

Still give credit to the movie for the beauty of the scenes but, it's mainly Joe Hisaishi's music that I loved to bits. kid Marcl was pretty damn adorable.

As if there weren't enough in the world already. ;) I know everyone can interpret things as they like, and that's great, but... is there some reason we can't at least make an attempt to go for something remotely resembling what the authors might have intended? maybe? just a little bit? 1. Thought the movie was beautiful aesthetically, but the plot was choppy and it seemed to be missing something cohesive entirely. I've been a fan of Miyazaki since I was a very small child, when I still believed Totoro would appear for me someday, and HMC is definitely my least favorite of his works. I did enjoy the book much more.

7. Salinger is love. Catcher will always be amazing. Franny and Zooey. ♥

8. I adored Penelo and had a seriously hard time getting into Ashe. And while Fran is a very attractive bunnylady, Penelo remains my favorite girl of the game.
