Since no one else seems interested in doing this, the closest I can come to how it's supposed to sound (because I'm really kind of terrible at phonetics) is "yah-oh-ee".

The correct pronuciation would be Yow (rhymes with now) -E (the name of the letter).

Idk how to pronounce "yowwie"; to me it looks like "yo-wee" but... yeah.

I think you've been misinformed.

In Japanese,
A = ah
O = oh
I = ee

So if you say it fast, yeah, it's more or less "yowie."

Now I'm confused because Yowie can be pronounced two ways just as Bowie can.

Bowie - where the bow is pronounced like bow down. Think of a Bowie knife.

Bowie - where the bow is pronounced like bow and arrow. Think of David Bowie.

Um...except they're pronounced the exact same. David Bowie chose that last name because he liked the word "Bowie Knife".

Also, "bowie knife" isn't pronounced with a "bow" like "bow down". That's just...weird and I don't know who pronounces it like that? O.O

My early days in fandom as a poor Aussie preteen were so confusing hearing girls squeal about Cadbury chocolates. I miss them bad, though, I still hang those Boof and Crag ornaments on my Christmas tree haha

Secrets like this make me so glad to have Spanish as a first language. Everything is pronounced exactly like it's written, so the jump to Japanese isn't hard. :D

It always confuses me when I see pronunciations written down the way you would pronounce them in English. Why are your pronunciation rules so weird, English? Why? :(

They're an Australian chocolate from the 1990s that were in the shape of a Yowie (an Aussie mythological creature). They had little toys inside, like Kinder Surprises, and were pretty awesome. :D

Re: Pronunciation. I know the proper way to pronounce it is yah-oh-i, but my mouth seems to default to yay-oh-i even though I know better. Well, I don't say yow-wee, so good?
